I was just posting this same topic title in March. Losing Roscoe was just a dagger right through my heart. All the things I had planned for him didn't happen and it has just really sucked. Well, last Saturday, Eric decided he wanted to go look around at the local shelters and so we did.  I'll make a very long story short, but Eric fell in love with this little guy and he came home today (he had to be fixed first). They think he's 8+ years old and he has one eye. They have no idea what happened to the other one. The shelter staff told us they never thought he'd get adopted.

His name is Milo Napoleon (b/c Sally says every dog has to have a middle name). He's been home for about 3 hours now and it's already been an adventure. It took about an hour to figure out how to put an e-collar on him (after he growled at my first attempt). I found out he likes to be held, he doesn't really get how stairs work and he loves Roscoe's bed. He's 7 lbs and I think he may be Jasper Lily's long lost half brother (those ears!). We think he's a chihuahua min pin mix. He and Tanner have only sniffed noses so far (and there was no growling involved!). Tanner was trying to bring toys to him and even bowed a few times at the pen trying to get him to play. I think once he feels better, he might just rule this roost.

Poor Eric! He's probably so relieved to get a dog with four legs he hasn't even noticed that Milo Napoleon is missing an eye! That'll be a shocker!

Milo Napoleon is ADORABLE!!! I'm just sooooo happy this little guy is with you!! The likelihood of him getting adopted with some of his "back talk" issues were pretty slim. Not to mention one eye!!

I didn't realize how little he was until I saw him all snuggled in the bed. I love that he feels so at home in the bed Rosco "let" him nave! Leasve it up to Jake and Rosco to send you this little guy out of the blue!

I love that sweet Tanner is already trying to get to play with him. I know Tanner misses Rosco too. That picture of Tanner nose to nose with Napoleon Milo is just precious!!

Is it alright if I share the storupy of how he barked at everybody but you and how he went straight to you a d leaned all up on you and how you were the only ine he let pick him up? No? You don't want me to share that? Okay, I won't!clown

I know it's going to be so much fun...and very interesting...having this little spitfire in your lives! Cannot wait to hear more! Cannot wait ro see more pictures!!! First Starbucks will be priceless!

I keep scrolling backnup to look at his lictures. He really, really is ADORABLE! I just wish the world had more compassionate Souls like Elizabeth and Eric!

Love and light to ya'!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS...I have a blankie in blue just like your red snowflake blankie...imagine that!

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!! Sally is right - ALL dogs need middle names! (Shelby LYNNE, Jasper LILY)... And I love his middle name!!!

He definitely has some very "Jasper Lily" expressions and appearance similarities ... I would say resting bitch face but as a boy, he probably doesn't do that!

I am giddy with excitement and so happy that this "senior" has found his fur-ever home in the best place - EVER!

And LOL to Sally on Eric finding a dog w/FOUR legs and not noticing he was missing an eye...

Seriously ... you are saint among us ... I cannot even imagine the rollercoaster of emotions you must have gone through to get to this place but I am so glad you rescued Milo and all is well (thus far)... snuggles and cuddles!!!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Little Milo is just adorable!!  He's so blessed that you and Eric came along to swoop him up so he can live out his senior years knowing lots of love and comfort!!  I have no doubt little Milo will help in healing your family's hearts (including Tanner's) after the devastating and sudden loss of Roscoe.  Jake and Roscoe are indeed up there watching out over their family.

Congrats on the new addition!

So far so good! No accidents in the house. He LOVES Tanner and doesn't care about the cats at all. He's still growling some but he's still a little scared (especially of men). He's a totally different dog than he was at the shelter though. He had quite a little attitude there but I can't say I blame him! He was outside just a little while ago running in the back yard. My daughter was able to pick him up and bring him inside (hooray, two people can pick him up now!).

Sally, you can tell any parts of the story you want! I gave the short version b/c it was all so crazy. Here he is today:

Outside in Roscoe's favorite spot:

Being held by my daughter. Right behind them on the shelf are Jake and Roscoe's ashes with their bandana's and favorite toys 🙂

'Been waiting to see how the first night went! Sounds great!!

I really thought being a little guy he would give Tanner some "attitude". That Tanner really knows how to make friends! Makes me soooo happy to know they are getting along!

That pocture of Milo Napoleon sitting in the sun...even with the cone on you can tell what a handsome boy he is! Quite good looking! THOSE EARS....definitely stylin' some Jasper Lily ears!!

I love how he likes Roscoe's spot, Roscoe's bed. Having Roscoe's celebration corner in the background of the picture of Milo and your daughter...sweet! A d your daughter is just like you...the Dog Whisperer! Look at that glimpse of a smile on her face...how sweet!

Some of my Mom's rescue dogs who were little always did a little "fussing/growl" when they were picked up or if they were moved off of her lap! Little dogs seem to jave no trouble voicing their opinions! I'm sure with a lot of rescues though, part of it was fear of being handled roughly and being hurt.

Every single dog who jas a forver home with you could not be any luckier!! I'm just so nappy for him...so happy! Your heart will definitely be all dog whenever you head to the Bridge! None of this makes you miss Roscoe in Jake any less. Tanner and Milo do give you the opportunity to have joy again and to allow you to love with that great big heart of yours.

MORE!! Can't wait for .MORE!!!! Video AND pictures!!!

Lotta' love to all!!

OMG ... I love him SO much!!!! I love how he's in your daughter's arms.... SOOOOOO Cute!!!! Glad it was a good night and it will only get better!

Am I the only one who keeps doing a double-take when I see 4 legs? I am so used to Elizabeth having "tripawds" it's really throwing me off! 🙂

Alison, I have to keep doing a double take myself. I haven't had a 4 legged dog in a couple of years, its weird!

I've discovered he is not a morning dog and he doesn't really like anyone at that time of day. He has growled at us both mornings when I try to get him up to go out. So I sit there telling him no until he stops, then just put his food near him, open his pen and he takes about 15-30 minutes to get up and wander out. He's definitely a "I do things on my own terms" dog.

Not a morning dog, How wonderful would that be??? At our house, when Ollie's up, everybody's up...same way with Murphy and Gus. And I am NOT a morning person!

Congratulations, Elizabeth. Looks like your little "Napoleon" fell into the little guy version of a bed of roses.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

I can relate little Milo Napoleon!! I'd growl too if someone tried to wake me up before the sun had been up at least a couple of hours!!

Mr. Frankie Huckleberry tried to be a morni g dog when he first arrived. I just duct taped his three legs to the floor and went back to sleep. Don't know if it would work with a four legger like Ollie and Milo Napoleon though!way-cool

With my work hiurs I leave early after noon and get home late. The only day I go in early is Sunday morning and I nave to have the dogs up and out by 6:30-7:00. My little guy Bodie, (yeah, he shoukd have been a Napoleon too!) refused to move! Loterally, he would not budge out of bed. He would roll over on his back and wiggle and squirm so it was hard for me to pick him up....and always growling at me about it unhappiness over getting up early! Through all the years my Mom had him a d then I had him, he would always give a little growl about anything it didn't like. I just would go right ahead and ignore him and do it anyway. He never bit, just fussed.

Because he's so little and couldn't hurt you but so much with a nip, wonder if you just gently go on a d lift him out for the next several mornings, growling and all, and show him it's not gonna matter. I'm sure just having one eye can make things look a little scarier to him.

You are a SAINT!!! This little guy has noooooo idea how lucky he is!!! This is going to be so much fun hearing about all his antics! I nave a feeling he has plenty of them!
