PURRKINS LOOKING LIKE PURRKINS....LOOOOVE IT!

I k ow it seems like a gazzillion  uears to see your perky Purrkins return to "normal".  All things considered,  plus adjusting  to his meds, he really has bounced back fairly quickly!  That's  just how Purrkins rolls!😎

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Thanks, Jackie, Rene & Sally!
Sally, you are right; this is how Purrkins rolls:)  It has been a rough few months the gaba for tooth pain, seizures, pheno, MRI, tap, anesthesia etc.! It does feel like furever!

Considering all he has been thru plus the higher dosage YEP! Purrkins is on his way back, and it is soooo good to see! Still not 100 % & steady on three, but that is improving as well. He is doing his little 2 step pet stairs nowsmiley_clap Will see how today goes and opening up more areas!

I got confirmation yesterday it can take an animal 4-8 weeks to adjust to the pheno dosage depending on how the animal metabolizes the drug. That was extremley helpful to hear. I have lots of information to add in the coming days!!!!

We go today for the plasma recheck and will get those results on Wed .

Purrkins had his best day yesterday, he spotted/hunted his mouse last night on the back porch! HIGHLIGHT

Anyone have a pet mouse here? Seriously, I want to get the boys a mouse or 2 not to hurt but watch through an aquarium or cage. IF it would not cause the mice harm to be observed and batted out? I know right ;)That's on Purrkins bucket list, and he deserves more than the dang mouse! INPUT ON the bucket list item? Pleasesmiley2

Purrkins the Warrior Super Kitty! More to come.

Loads of love!

I have a saltwater fish tank and my boy cat just stares at it for hours on end, I have a horrible feeling that mice may not appreciate having a cat staring at them.

The way some of these are made is that they don't move until the cat messes with it, then it's game on icon_lol

When Holly said mouse, this was the first thing that came to mind sp_hearticon2

OMC Jackie, I have not seen this until now!

Thanks for the link Rene too! HA yep will be breaking down to get one.

have a horrible feeling that mice may not appreciate having a cat staring at them.

The one visitor we get on the porch does not mind LIKELY because he knows he's safe outside. Yes, I'm not looking to hurt or stress any creature. I was thinking aquarium-type setting if we decided to do this. The little guy would be safe; the boys could just observe, like the fish.(my thinking but I have no idea why i asked) i will inquire further;)

I know natalia2019 Pablo's Mom had a mouse, and they did ok together i was shocked.

I will update you later on yesterday's appt. I have been up all night and getting relief here in a few. Yep, shi _ change SAlly;)

Thanks for the input!

Purrkins pheno levels are now in the ideal range!! smiley_clap
He was getting into the therapeutic range on 1/16/21, 11.25 mg for 11 days, then the increase to 15 mg for 3 days.

These results below are for 2 weeks on 15 mg 2 times a day.
(reminder dosage goes by how each animal metabolizes the drug, not by the size of our furmily)

Karen/Krun15 -

You are correct 😘 i put an arrow there for you all these years later; your knowledge and traveling in the time machine serves you well!!smiley10

Purrkins had an excellent visit; he does not mind going to see Dr. R whatsoever. On the road again.I just can't wait to get on the road again🎵icon_lol here the tune';)

We had to take the truck as we had a fresh dump of snow. Purrkins had to ride on my lap.

IMG_1735-scaled.jpegImage Enlarger

On the way home;)

IMG_1756-scaled.jpegImage Enlarger

We have zero issues with the boys when we get home, no who are you, no hissing, etc. Massive difference in a cat-only clinic, plus they adore Purrkins and give him all kinds of ruv. He was in there for maybe 15 minutes, and we were on our way.

Mr.P's parking spot, i think i will ask if I can make them some new signs:)
IMG_1750-scaled.jpegImage Enlarger

We stopped at the pet store & pharmacy to get Purrkins meds.

Jackie, i did it. 💳 😁. Thanks again, Jackie and Rene;)

Mr. P still says he still wants that mouse;)

IMG_1769-scaled.jpegImage Enlarger

this early a.m.

Purrkins is starting to adjust to the pheno dosage, still not steady on his three. Each day is better! He is now doing his 2,3,4 sets of steps when we're there to make sure he does not have a mishap. We are not to our new normal yet. We are getting there!🙌🏻

IMG_1766-scaled.jpegImage Enlarger

Dr.R is waiting to hear from Dr. I (neurologist) for Purrkins plan in the future! I will hear back from her again this week. We have already spoken to Dr. Matt, and he has already formulated a plan!👏🏻😁

We are still w/o heat - the parts came in; they are coming out tomorrow. I will explain all this further in the next post & fill in the blanks.

Loads of love & much appreciation!

Oh Lord,  we are snowing and cold here 🥶 Hang in there till tomorrow!!

I know of drugs that need a peak and trough level. Not many but there are a few.  From veterinary to nursing i remembered a lot but 7 years into office work.... like they say,  if you don't use it you lose it.  🤯 I miss those days,  but also appreciate being in my office without patients right now.  I deal with enough unsafe bodies,  lol.

Im thrilled Mr. P is settling into his normal self 🥰🥰🥰

Which fishy did you choose?! I look forward to the results! We have a kitten now and she's got all the boys following her lead which is adorable ❤ I've actually been able to increase the boys food,  hahah! Even my Sta Puffed Marshmallow Man is running around the house like a teenager 😂😂😂

I see a bright yellow "three" with a black lining and Purrkins' face peeking through🥰

Big hugs,  keep up the pawsome work!!

Jackie and Huck❤❤❤

2 Deluxe Flippity Fish😸😽
I can not buy just one of anything here:) asking for fighting etc. I was hoping for Paypal but not an option FYI.💳

Great news the boys are moving with Phoebe in the house & they get more food ha;)

😁 yes;)
I think a different color/type of kitty per number as well. From what i can see they appear to be all gray kitties. Now that we are not in trauma i will pay more attention and see how many spots are marked. I know I can make some cutes one & laminate them. These are temporary of course with the times but they are getting tired already by the looks of it.

Thanks, Jackie

Thanks for taking us along on your adventure to the super duper pawesome cat clinic! Love the pics and I cannot WAIT to see the flippity fish reactions!!!

So are you saying that before you started going to the cat clinic, that the boys would treat each other differently when you got home from the old v-e-t? Did I miss that somewhere?

Looks like you guys are miles ahead of where you were this time last week, yay! smiley_clap That new normal is just around the corner, I can feel it.

WHOPPER POST & WHOPPER POST to follow!

So are you saying that before you started going to the cat clinic, that the boys would treat each other differently when you got home from the old v-e-t? Did I miss that somewhere?

I'm in a haze, Rene; some info is on the blog but not as it should be YET!

I am sorry for not clarifying this better. Still on little sleep, too much information & poisoned!

GAH, I promise to get all this on the blog as we work our way out of this haze!

Our Cat hospital is a gold clinic, not just cat-friendly practice - A Gold level CAT ONLY hospital.

These links will explain in detail - why the experience is so different for cats.

Cat-Friendly Practice®

What to Expect at a Cat-Friendly Practice

The Top Ten Reasons to Choose a Cat-Friendly Practice

There is no comparison!

ANYTIME one of the boys has/had to visit the vets(traditional practices), they do not recognize each other.

non-recognition aggression

One cat comes home, and we have issues for days afterward. Hissing, growling, fights! We do the scent swapping techniques, a multi-cat diffuser plugged in, and we still have issues.

Not one issue at the cat clinic. Purrkins comes home, and Saxton knows who he is and vice versa. It like Purrkins never left home.

The NOTABLE differences are the quality of care, pain management , time spent, follow-ups, dealing with cat-specific issues! Genuinely caring about your cat and want the best for them in the future. MASSIVE!

pain management -

We noticed a big difference right away - they understand what pain signals your cat is experiencing & they treat accordingly. There is no begging for medicine and made to feel like your drug-seeking. I was not speaking a foreign language trying to explain what pain signals Purrkins was showing me! I never had to repeat myself or the need to explain further.

I had a HUGE sense of relief on our first curbside appt just talking to the vet.  The cat hospital ensured me Purrkins would be pain-free until our dental, which turned into all this crazy ...

She would make sure Purrkins did not suffer thru whatever we were dealing with.

For example, she sent Purrkins home with 200 mg Gaba for tooth pain and said if this did not cut it, we would add another med in.

vs. the traditional vet sent home 1/4 capsule of Gabapentin for tooth pain.

When i phoned the traditional vet to tell him this was not cutting it for Purrkins, he was hesitant to send more home. It was an awful experience (made to feel as though we were drug-seeking! ) MIND YOU. We have NEVER asked for pain meds here until this appt. We have been patients for over six years there. smiley7

I am 95% pawsitive we would still not have a diagnosis with the other clinic. Dr. R, the kitty vet, took this and ran with it. She got neurology on the phone, got them involved, and i heard back the following day. She has checked on Purrkins regularly, and i can contact her and know I will hear back!! The old clinic ?! Not one call to check in on us.🏃🏻‍♀️💨 I will be writing a letter 🤬(that's another novel)

Saxton will be going to see Dr. R in the spring! It will be interesting to see what Saxton thinks and the difference.

Saxton is all "cat"; he is never happy to leave and protests, Hisses, growls, goes potty in the carrier (we don't blame him either), has grabbed for the vets ( bite) claw! I do anticipate a much different experience for Saxton. (I will let you know)

We cannot speak higher of our experience, the care, the time they spend, being a phone or email away and getting a response back on weekends, holiday! This entire experience has been a nightmare, but switching vets curbside to the kitty hospital has been the biggest blessing! We got care asap and continued to get care vs. waiting months to book a traditional practice dental app.

If anyone has a cat, find a cat-friendly hospital for your cat, for you, for the household. No comparison. We humans have not been inside the building yet. They have a kitty playroom where they let the cats relax to get an accurate bp etc.

They have gone above and beyond for cats! Whoo-hoo!

Looks like you guys are miles ahead of where you were this time last week, yay! smiley_clap That new normal is just around the corner, I can feel it.

YES - We are rounding the bend;)

More updates to follow omc..

We have good news and scary news!

Our superhero Purrkins needed no cape before but evidently, he felt the need to show us he is 1000% a superhero kitty,

purrkysuperkitty-scaled.jpgImage Enlarger

We had carbon monoxide in the house! YES and the cause of Purrkins seizures!💔

The furnace people are still here. Our heat exchanger had a huge crack in it. We do have 3 carbon monoxide detectors that did not go off. this was a low dose of poison to cause symptoms and not kill us all. We got a new lower detection model put in today as well! OMC

Dr. Isaacs's neurologist confirms we can get Purrkins off the pheno in 6 months as long as Purrkins remains seizure-free.  🙌🏻  the testing and treatments are the same for carbon monoxide or i just do not know how we would move forward from here!?!!?

I have lots of info to share and you will likely have questions. PLEASE Bear with me here. I will add all the information in!!

My aunt is in the hospital on a vent and doing poorly🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 from covid. My uncle is positive but no symptoms yet. We have already lost one uncle to this disease.

From all of us lucky to be ALIVE AT PURRKINS PALACE!

loads of love💝💝💝🥺
