Awwww, she just melts my heart. She looks quite happy and quite content. You can see that she's at ease and not stressed at all ❤️

She's clearly where she wants to be and with her heart human ❤️❤️

As we've all learned through the tripawd experience, dogs are incredibly resilient. They adapt so well, whether it be losing a leg or losing vision.

Myrtle looks so happy slurping down her Starbucks. And I love the little cock of the head at the end. I think she may be an honorary Cocker Spaniel.

Sally, you're doing an amazing job dealing with both Mrytle's and Frankie's issues. They're the luckiest dogs on the planet to have you as their mom.

David and Rocky (and Baxter now too!)

Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.

He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.

He is the toughest, bravest, sweetest and best friend I'll ever know.

Hey Sweet Sally, the nose knows. Dogs have great sniffers, better than cats, and much better than ours. She is so happy and your loving face is always her vision.

I'm happy to see she had an outing.

Hugs to all,

This makes me smile with MY heart, to see Merry Myrtle back to her merry, puppaccino slurping enthusiastic self. She is looking very secure and confident and I LOVE the way she looks right at you at the end and cocks her head, like Thank you, Mum (and could I possibly have another?). And also how she is careful to lick up any stray drops from the door. Such a responsible girl to tidy up after herself 😋

And I agree with you. She can totally hear the smile in your voice. Just as you can hear someone smile when you are talking on the phone. She can hear you smile and your smiling face is emblazoned across her heart. The wagging tail is a MASSIVELY positive sign.

All Merry Myrtle sees is love. From the moment she wakes up in the morning full of anticipation for the treat-filled day ahead, to when she goes to sleep at night, with her heart happy, sandwiched in between the two beings she loves most in the world, from days break to day’s end all Merry Myrtle sees is love.

I know she dreams about you too, Sally. I know she does. Contented dreams, filled with your beautiful, smiling face.

❤️❤️❤️

Oh Sally it is so lovely to watch your beautiful girl slurping away, back to her wonderful routines with Mom 🎀🍦

Like Clare says, one can always spot a smile even without seeing the person, the tone in your voice goes straight to Myrtle's heart, she knows how loved she is 💓

She is the happiest girl, Sally, she has the Mom all of us want to have if we come back as a dog and a goofy, fun loving three legged companion, life is good 😍

Sending you all my love and cuddles to your babies 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. I've  been going back and reading the wonderfully  supportive,  loving  and fun posts you all have so gracuously taken time to uplift myself and Merry Myrtle❤  As each of you know when we hear from our BFF Tripawd family, it means to world to us😊   And I DO feel badly because  I really intended to repond in a more individual  way.  HA!  The best laid plans!

Alrhough her eyesight  is completely  gone, we have a victory to celebrate as far as finding  some enjoymemt in her day.😁    Most of her days are spent  sleeping.  She used to love going out in the yard, puttering around, sunbathing,  romping with Frankie,  etc.  She rarely goes off the porch.  Even with all the coaxing in the world, she just wants to stay,on her bed and ALWAYS with one of her 'babies".  I even move the "babies" down the ramp and out into the yard to try and get her to follow.....no deal.

As you know, I've tried to reacquaint  her with things she liked to do that used to bring her joy.  Starbucks. PetCo, etc.  I've  done a couple of trips, but it scares her too much.

But we had a breakthrough  today!! 😀  Getting her into PetCo was a bit of a hurdle though.  She wanted to stay in the car.  Once out, I had to use a bit of a tug here and there to keep her moving  forward.

Well, as you can see, she actually  started enjoying  herself and was quite waggy tail as I encouraged  people to come up to her a pet her.  It helped that it was very cool in there after almost an hour drive in 95 degree heat!

Let me tell ya', having   Big Dawg Merry Myrtle walking in and stylin'  her Blind Rock Star gets a lot of attention and a lot  of  "Awww.......awww......may we pet her?"  And she loved it!  Don't  have that on video though.

So all together now,  YAAAAAAAAY  FOR MERRY MYRTLE FINDING  SOME JOY😂😘🤗😋😀😄

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

OH this makes my heart sing!  Look at our girl so confident and happy!  Soaking up that love and adoration from everyone!  So glad you were able to do this for her and show her not every car ride means going to the vet some are just for fun!  Such great stimulation for her and we know it's not easy doing these excursions with her but so rewarding seeing her so happy and engaged!  Well done Mama!  You truly are Myrtles "seeing eye person" and the trust she has in you is monumental!  Sending love and hugs to all of "Pack Holladay"!

Myrtle my beautiful girl!!!  Mama talked you into the bestest play date clap

Sally, if anybody can crack that shell and show her that the world is still good it's YOU!!!

She looks wonderful, and she soaked all that love up like a sponge 💖

I hope this is the beginning of Myrtle getting adjusted to get new normal. I'm sure it's been a scary transition and i know it's taken a lot of time, love, and effort but you are still rocking this!

Much love and admiration to you and all of your furbabies 💞

I'm so glad you posted an update Sally.  I think of you and Myrtle every time I put meds in Obie's eyes...so that is pretty much every night!

I'm glad you were able to get her out and get her some stimulation and cookies.  I can't imagine how hard it is to get her into and out of places she isn't familiar with.  Keep at it!

I will soon be going through the same thing with my Pittie Athena.  She is only 7 yrs but going blind from PRA.  Did you hear of or try the Angel Halo?  It looks goofy and I am not sure my dog would wear it but the ophthalmologist recommended it.  So far Athena can still see in bright light but not indoors so she always trips over her brothers and sometimes gets stuck in corners and cries for us to help her but mostly she does well as long as I don't change the furniture, etc.

 Dr. Pam,

I saw something about that Angel Halo.  I don't think Sally knows anything about it.  Can you post a link or some information for her so she can look at it.

Thanks

There are several kinds of halos out there- our eye vet also mentioned them to me for Obie although we are not there with him yet.

Here is one on the Handicap Pets Web site called the Walkin Blind Dog Harness.

There there is this one called Muffin's Halo.

There are also a lot of plans on the Web for DIY versions.

Sally, sweet Sally 🌻

Seeing Myrtle's video brought tears to my eyes, happy, happy tears 💕

She is so wonderful and sweet and is indeed a magnet for people to love her, I imagine how she got everybody's attention and yet more cookies 🍪🍪🍪

You are the greatest Mom, this whole situation has got to be extremely hard on you and your baby but thankfully she has you to take her into the world again.

Please keep the updates coming, we can never have too many videos and photos of Princess Myrtle 💝

Sending you the biggest hug ever recorded and HUGE cuddles to your gorgeous girl and your gorgeous boy too 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹
