Getting the pressure down is HUGE! YAAAY I wondered about the pain as well! Great you have drops for both & Yaaay you were successful getting them in! PHEW!

Absolutely love that Clare "where there's light there is HOPE" "Where there's love, there's light! " YES YES YES!❤️❤️❤️

You are a rock star yourself Sally, what an excellent job you've done with the drops! We all send LOTS of light to Miss Merry Myrtle, you and Frankie for more continued improvement!

P.S. I agree, 50/50 odds are quite a gamble based on what you described. Good assessment of the situation.

Good job Sally!

Any progress when dealing with a serious issue is awesome!  Wine and chocolate all around!

I had to resort to night lights with Tani- she would walk off the edge of the bed at night without them.

I sent you an email about ground texture- but I'm guessing with the tavlet issues you didn't get it.  Be sure you walk MM around so she can feel the difference in floor textures and outside as well- she will learn where she is by how the ground feels under her paws.  Sort of like the warning track on baseball fields.

Is she running into things?  Tani knew her way around pretty well as does Obie.  Obie has more trouble outside when he is not in his yard.  We keep him close when we are away from home- that's where he has the most trouble.

Ditto Sally - any positive news is, well, positive! Just keep putting those good thoughts out into the universe, and you know they will come back to you! You have so much on your plate right now, I can't even imagine the stress level.....but you know what they say, "God never gives you more than you can handle". You seem to be handling this with humor and grace, but just know that we are here for you when you feel like you need to just vent or rail at the fates. Sending you love, hugs, and good vibes!

Paula and Warrior Angel Nitro (and of course, Kodi and the "Tot")

Nitro 11 1/2  yr old Doberman; right front amp June 2014. Had 6 doses carboplatin, followed by metronomic therapy. Rocked it on 3 legs for over 3 years! My Warrior beat cancer, but couldn't beat old age. He crossed the Bridge peacefully on July 25, 2017, with dignity and on his terms.  Follow his blog entitled "Doberman's journey"

You have no idea how badly I want to come back and make specific  replies to your love, your helpful tips, your  supportive and encouraging  COMMENTS.  You have EACH pored your heart and soul into your heartfelt  posts and I am soooooo appreciative ❤❤❤

HOWEVER, I haven't  figured out how to make the "quotes" thing work on my baby tavlet  so I can properly  highlight the specialness  of each of your comments resonates with me😞😓

I just have to say to Me Clare though , the sentiment about where there is light there is hope...and where their is love their is light   ABSOLUTELY  DIVINE  SENTIMENT 💖

I want to share one more thing from the appointment  yesterday .  You know how we  kinda "draw the line in the sand" as to how far we will go.  I "knew" I wouldn't  pursue any "operations".   Plis, yesterday Myrtle was quite frightened the whole time she was at the appt and laid flat out on the floor and dug her claws in REFUSING  to go into the room.  And she really like this Bet.  He's  trying to loft her with her Blind Rock Star harness....I'm  pushing her butt saying COOKIE...not budging!  Je was wonderdul!  He for down on the floor with her while six or seven dogs stsrted barking and bumping into walls.  He calmly talked ro her, started massafing her...she rolls over for rummy rubs....ueah...she willingly  went i to the room.

Anuway, of course when I got home I started overthinking.   What if I was Mrs Bill Gates.........had all the time in the world to go back and forth for multiple follow up appts.....what if Frankie would never try to pull her cone off and never swat at her eye.....and she had no fear going back there...and careodes not longer stressed her out with not seeing....blah, blah

So I emailed him a few more questions and my line in the sand is strong and unmoved  now.

1.  IF...IF....IF the surgery  was successful,  to what degree would it restore her vision in her one "not very good" eye ?
Not a lot
2.  IF not successful at all, could she still maintain  the tiny, tiny bit of "sight" she has now, or would  that be ended?
Both are possible
3.  If I continue  with the drops as prescribed today and IF I maintain the status quo of her checkup today (or better), would the surgery still be a possibility  a month or two or three down the road?
Yes, possibly
4.  One more!  I "think" you said there is a "possibility " that continuing with the drops could "possibly " even improve her eyesight a tiny bit....or did I just make that up?
.
Yes, if pressure stays down
So he answered all my questions and, combine that with the more in depth conversation we had...
So to me, it seems like drops are 50/50 and surgery is 50/50.   And drops have no surgery risk, drama, etc
When I put drops in Myrtle`s eyes now I sing...  "We love drops and drops love us...open your eyes and you'll have cookies in a bus!"
And one more thing .  I did mention  to the Vet  about the "my fault" comment and that was really, really  hard to love with...very, very hard.  It said, "Oh no he didn't  say that! ....I smiled amd said, Yes, you did.  He said no, I mist jave misheard him.  None of this is anyone 's fault.  I'm sure I   was trying to stress the importance  of the drops, but never was saying this was your fault!!
So all good!!!
And BTW, THANK  YOU all for pointing  out that I AM doing a better job with the drops!!!  Amd I DID give muself a pat on the vaxk feom uou!!
Shhhh.......of course it's  a bit easier when she can't  see me getting ready to put them in😎😎😎
And she did get cheesevurger, French fries, and TWO Puppachinos!!!  Her tummy burgled all night!!  Can't  imagine why🤣

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Ditto Petra! I love the song too. Perhaps Allensong could do a cover version? way-coolway-cool

Seriously, I do find singing helpful, as it relaxes both of you. A little dance is additionally helpful, I find, so perhaps Sally, you could work one in? (Video please. I mean, obviously...)

I'm really pleased you emailed him the questions and got such straightforward and helpful responses. Much better than tormenting yourself with endless possibilities and what ifs. And I'm SO pleased you cleared up the misunderstanding. It's amazing how the mind can distort things, especially when you are under so much stress. We all know this is no one's fault.

As Petra says, we all support you 100% and are with you every step of the way.

We will hope the drops continue to do the job and keep the pressure down and even improve!

Sally sweetheart 🌺

It was so good you asked all those questions and now have a clear decision, a decision which does not involve surgery !

And you became a singing nurse too 🎤🎷🎼 Myrtle must be a happy dawg with all the singing and the treats at the end (delivered in a bus 🚌)

I’m keeping my fingers crossed alongside Angel Hannah 🌟and Angel Eurydice’s 🌟paws crossed for sweet Myrtle 💗

Love and cuddles and kisses galore 😘😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Oh Sally! I too have been remiss in replying. I am so sorry you are going through all of this. BUT.....in your words....basically Myrtle doesn't care. She has her Mama, her pupachinos , burgers and fries. She has her Frankie to lead her also. Not to down play your situation at all, just know that you are doing the best for her. Look at all of the time you spent wrapping your home to protect her. On that note, I have rubber bumpers on my home. For the toddler Grandkids, but I ordered them on Amazon. You can get corners, long pieces etc. They stick with includied 2 sided tape. I have them on tabl s, my fireplacehearth, my exposed beams in the kids' playroom etc. Also, I have heard, as you most likely have that she will navigate your home fairly well as long as you don't move things.I also wanted to suggest that you reach out to the place we got Daryl. It is called Pets with Disabilities. The lady who runs it is named Joyce Darrell. ( yep, that's how he got his name). They rescue and find homes for seeing and hearing impaired pups, along with 3 legged and orthopedic patients. She may have some suggestions to help you. She is a very sweet lady. Just a thought. Know that we all love you here! ❤️ I have also been thinking of Hannah as it is April. That sure was an " awful April" that year. I like to think all of our " April Angels" are at the bridge partying away! Hugs,  Lori, angel Ty and the gang

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

THANKS AGAIN E V E R Y O N E......E V E R Y O N E  OF YOU  FOR YOUR SUPPORT,  YOIR PICTURES, YOUR INFORMATION  AND YOUR LOVE 💖💖

Merry Myrtle had another eye appt today.  Vet thinks she does not have much vision, if any.  The "if any"is different from last visit .  That's  basically  based on no reaction to a couple of tests, mostly bright  light related.

Her pressure is avout the same as last visit.  18 in "oeiginal" bad eye....and 32 -33 in the "new" bad eye.  He said it's  still in a range where the drops are keeping the pressure from getting too painful. I have drops for pain  as needed.

He says to continue with eye drops, but we will eventually want to do an injection in the eye to control the pressure permanently .

He probably  says this to everyone, but he says her trust level in me is really nice to observe..  He supposedly saw us when we first  got out of the car, and then got a glance or two out in the waiting room, as well of our interraction in the appointment room.  He said he could see an improvement in  her confidence  level and that was because of her trust in me!     OHHHH YEAH ....I GOT MISTY EYED😭😭😭😭😭😭😭

Of course, he didn't see her when I guided her to our bed an forgot to move my shoes out of the way and she nearly fell over!!!  She gets a bit upset for a couple of seconds when things like that happen, but she and I laugh it off ...she wags.....and all is good!😎😎  It really is about being laser focused on her surroundings.  I still haven't  mastered not stopping if she's  behind me!  It doesn't  hurt her when she bumps into me......but  Ive nearly had a tumble or two🤣🤣🤣

Lots of love and appreciation to all!!😙😚

Hugs Sally.  I think Myrtle is adjusting to her new normal and having you be her human adjusting to it with her is like winning the doggie lottery.  She could have no better of a Mommy human than you!  Eye Dr is spot on with his observations of her trust in you!  Just keep taking it one day at a time like you have been doing and learn together.  Not much different when you think about it except you're the seeing eye person.  Just a little role reversal 😉😉  23 days my friend.....hang tough!  Love you! ❤️
