So, as you know Merry Myrtle was quite impressed with Cool Dawg Frankie's laser shades, so she wanted some, regardless of the "cost"

As good a Nurse as Myrtle's been to Frankie, he immediately stepped up and is in training ro be her "Seeing Eye Service Dog"!

So after stopping for her Puppy Latte (good eyesight not required!), I got her a great big colorful new "baby" so she would be able to see it.:-) 🙂 So darn cute when she saw it!! 🙂 🙂

Way to step up Frankie! And that "baby" is definitely big enough to see!
One of my parents' dogs has something similar. He has one bad eye (no vision) for which he gets a drop a day, and then he gets three drops in the good eye as they try to stave off him going completely blind. He's been getting them for more than three years now and his vision is holding steady in the good eye. So hopefully the same holds true for Merry Myrtle.
David and Rocky (and Baxter now too!)
Rocky had his right front leg amputated on Valentine's Day 2017 after being diagnosed with osteosarcoma.
He joined the September Saints on September 3, 2017.
He is the toughest, bravest, sweetest and best friend I'll ever know.

So Sally, this whole time you were helping Frankie through his recovery, Myrtle was having the glaucoma and UTI issues? YIKES! I hope the drops help for a long time, and she feels better real soon. My guess is that Frankie's nursing shift will really get her back to 100%.

We get it Sally we have 2 and they both have a set of issues.🤑 Paw crossed for eyes and uti to clear up and Frankie using the leg and less cheating buddy. You are very wise to cheat;) Good job being each others nurse lets get all well so we need no nurses. OK

In the house of Pugs the dogs go to the eye doctor more often than the humans 
We have not dealt with glaucoma however so I can't help you with specifics there.
All three Pugs have or had chronic degenerative eye problems that can lead to blindness. Neither Mag or Tani went completely blind, but our eye vet told me when we got to the point that I should not 'move the furniture anymore'. Obie is pretty much blind outside in bright light- and his vision inside is limited. In fact he often uses smell to tell the difference between me an my dad.
That being said- people who don't know the dogs never knew they have/had vision issues. They could/can navigate the house and yard just fine. I now live in a house with stairs and Obie is up and down them multiple times daily. As we see here over and over dogs have an amazing ability to adapt.
When dealing with a chronic eye issues I learned that keeping the dosing schedule is critical to success. I've been doing once or twice daily eye meds for one or more dogs for 17 years! With the girls it was part of our meal routine- and they waited in line for their turn! With Obie we do them in the evening.
I hope that the meds control progression and Merry Myrtle keeps the vision she has. I wanted to share our experiences to head off worrying about the future.

I know you have a heart of gold and you support everyone when its needed. I am glad you finally posted on this. I promise it will be ok. You have a strong support team and we are all here for you. Just means no more Gallivanting that those 2 little hoodlems did earlier in their life.

Sally, I was just thinking of you tonight and was wondering how Frankie was doing. ( I have been away for awhile, got twin Grandsons in October and have been babysitting them.) anyhoo, I see he is doing quite well, but now Myrtle..... I'm sorry. I will check out earlier posts, so I can see exactly what is going on. Poor Chandler is stone deaf, but I have not had a pup with vision issues. I think they adapt as long as you don't move stuff around. ❤️LORI, Ty and the whole gang
TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Actually just reread your post. I was distracted by Frankie's outfit. Has your vet tried Clavamox for the UTI? Lucy had a stubborn one that it cleared up. She was on it for quite awhile. I hope this med clears hers up, poor girl.

Ok here's the deal. It's almost March 1st. March starts a new month, a season of rebirth where Mother Nature gives an overhaul. So Sally come March it's a new beginning with these two! Everything will settle down and start going right again. Frankie will be back to hopping like the Easter Bunny, and Merry Myrtles UTI will be cleared up and she'll enjoy you putting eye drops in her eyes and those will keep her eye stable forever! I've got it on good authority (Happy Hannah) that's she's with you and better times are ahead! Hugs my friend! We are all here for you......always!

LORI! Soooo good to hear from you!!! TWIN GRANDBABIES! SWEEET!! I've met you.....you're waaay too young to have GRANDBABIES! Sorry sweet Chandler doesn't have his hearing. Bummer. Hope Darryl is doing okay! Not sure why the Vet didn't use Clavamox. Can't remember the name of the dirst antibiotic, but she said it was "better" for bacteria....something @ike that. Anyway, the one she's on now is Baytril, so paws crossed.
HOLLY: 🙂 🙂 Yeah, Frankie has his Halloween outfit all ready! And you're right, time to put away the Nurse uniforms! ,Sorry you're having "issues" with your two.

I'm so sorry to be only just now picking up on this. Honestly, Frankie and Myrtle, what are you like! I have no doubt that Frankie would make a splendid seeing-eye dog, it's just where he'd lead our Merry Myrtle, that's the question.
I have some experience of glaucoma in humans (my Aunt), though not in dogs. I remember being fascinated by my Aunt's glaucoma as a small child and would question her in detail over what she could see. I remember showing her a Christmas card and she told me she could clearly see Father Christmas, because he was dressed in red. So I think your big bright colourful baby for Myrtle is spot on.
It's great that you have determined what is going on and here's hoping the drops can keep it from progressing. I'm with Linda: March is a new beginning for both Frankie and Myrtle and the Spring has great things in store.
