I'm sorry about the vomiting.
Great job on the Cerenia it lasts 24 hours. You can use it up to 5 days in a row. My instructions were 4-day courses or as needed; I hope you have enough on hand or can ask for more. I know you can do differently on lower doses, but I don't have experience or information to share. I hope things are now better since giving it no more vomiting.

I have enough Cerenia for 10 days.

Maybe he overate yesterday.

Aside from the vomiting he has been acting normally today. He is active and exploring.

He seems to be OK

Ok good to hear, do a few days and see how things go. I am sure the Cernenia helps in many ways.

Mention it to the vet, and maybe she will tell you you can give more often than that, but until then, what I know is a 5-day course is standard. You are going to have these days with kidney disease and you are prepared and have nipped it right away. Jolie will not vomit and will not get dehydrated this way.

Give them both a chin scratch and a crunchy snack, please.

It's not an education any of us ask for, but yes, those meds are gold to have on hand. YOU DO, and that's one LESS stressor!!! The vomiting has stopped, Jolie feels good, and you are back to living, not stressing. Sounds good!

Edward,

I'm just now catching up. That is so sad about Sweetpea, I'm so sorry. I'll bet your sweet boy is really proud of all you're doing to get educated about Jolie's condition. I know we are! smiley_clap

Love seeing how good they look, thanks for sending those photos to our awesome volunteer Sally!

I hope the vomiting was nothing. Thanks for letting us know. We are sending tons of pawsitive energy to you and the boys! Please keep us posted.

Yikes!  Hopefully that vomit was a one and done.  Couldn't  advise you on the Cerenia.

I thoroughly  enjoyed  reading avout how Migno and Jolie came k to your life. I'm sorry about you precious Sweetpea (love the name)  Heart issues in dogs and cats can be so brutal.

Geez, I was just reading how well they were doing with Iv, eating, drinking, etc and then the vomit surprise.  It does sounds like it  is resolving itself. You gave him Cereni and his is "eating with gusto"!  Good sign!.

Here's a picture Edward shared yesterday (or maybe day before).  He said it was a rainy day and as he headed out to work, this is now the two were snuggling........perfect way to handle a day.  These two are soooo cute!!!!♥️

Hello All♡

I did notice Jolie seemed to be eating more than usual yesterday and he was more active.

I always check the litter box during night and clear any pee or poop. Sometimes Jolie steps on the pee and I have to clean up his paw. When I checked around 3 am that's when I found the surprise vomit. Jolie always heads toward the litter box when he has to vomit so it was right in front of the litter box.

Maybe he just over ate yesterday.

Everything seemed normal when I went to work. Hopefully there will be no surprises waiting for me when I get home tonight.

♡♡♡

Maybe he just over ate yesterday.

That certainly makes sense to me, especially since everything else is perfectly normal and he's eating again. It's so cute that he wants to go to the litter box if he needs to vomit. It makes cleaning up a lot easier.!😎

Hello All:)

I am relieved to report that the last 24 hours plus have been vomit-free. Jolie has stopped going under the sofa at iv time. I seem to be getting better at iv-giving. This morning as soon as we finished iv he went to his food bowl and started eating. Jolie and Mignon enjoyed two chicken tube snacks and feline greenies ( they only eat the roasted chicken ones). Meds and Cerenia went down without a hitch. I'm thinking 3 days of cerenia is enough. All in All, the day is starting well:)

Such good news!!!

Looks like you nd Jolie have worked out a smooth IV system.  He stays out from under the couch, gets his IV and then goes and gets a good breakfast as a reward!

Im Mia - Purrkins had to have an unexpected surgery and recovery we are still in,

I hope things are still going well and no puking. The little dad cam you have for the boys, you might want to put that by their litter box. We have a camera on our litter box and know who is doing what, and if there is an ISSUE, we know who needs help. I hear you and understand Jolie heads to the litter box to puke. Saxton always did, too.

When cleaning the box, be mindful of the poop & how dry it may or may not be. If you see Jolie straining in the box to poop and puking, he is consipated. It is not uncommon in older kitties and CKD.

We don't want Jolie to have constipation issues; when that happens, they puke in or outside the box trying to poop, straining activates the puking. That can also turn into an ER visit. Be mindful when cleaning the box, and check for dry and hard balls. Puking is a red flag! You can do OTC Miralax to help if you see dry, hard balls, and I would recommend a small dosage of 1/8 to 1/4 tsp am and pm. It is odorless and tasteless and could go in their treat tube snack.

If you can position your camera on the litter box and ensure all is going okay there for both of your boys, that would be excellent to know.

Hugs - I'll pop in when I can!
Love to both the boys, please

Jolie has been doing well with eating and both the boys poop is moist and good consistency.

Alas, Mignon has been vomiting today and not eating. I syringe fed him just a little so he doesn't have an empty stomach and gave him a dose of Cerenia. Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Prayers please and always thanks to all for your care. ♡♡♡
