I promised to update everyone on the second opinion we got about removing Lucky's stump.  The vet said he did not feel he was in pain and that surgery would be elective.  I'm not sure I agree with him that Lucky is not in pain.  Every time I pick him up and I touch his stump he cries - Loudly!!  We have decided to put off any surgery until January when he will be 6 almost 7 months old.  I may talk with the first vet who said it should be amputated.  So much is going on in my life right now (I have severe back pain that I've been dealing with the last 3-4 weeks, hence why it's taken so long to do this update) but back to Lucky.  He keeps hurting his stump and then rolls around on the floor crying, trying to bring the stump up into his body as far as it goes.  I wish this was a clear cut case of knowing what should be done.  I'm so overwhelmed thinking about it.

Oh my gosh poor Lucky! But, he is VERY lucky that you are looking out for him. I'm sorry you're dealing with so much right now, that pain of your own doesn't help.

Follow your gut. It really does sound like he's hurting. Is there any way you can video tape to show both vets what's going on?

Your plan sounds good. In the meantime, is the vet against any kind of pain control like Gabapentin? Just to help him get by until you see the other vet? He sounds like he could really use it.

Also, I would make that January appointment now since vet clinics are really slammed.

Hoping you can get some relief  for your back pain.  That jas to be  iserable.

And absolutely  agree with you snd Jerry.....Lucky clearly has pain...and it sou ds like it's excruciating!  Maybe an exposed nerve pain or something.

A yway, do try and get him on some Gabapentin as soon as you can.  Your Vet can guide you on that.

Thanks for the update  and hoping BOTH of you get out of pain soon!
