I don't know how to start a new topic.  She had a front leg removed.  I have an XL box for her, but she still hangs over sometimes.  I used to use nature's miracle large corner box, but now that she is a tripod, it is too high for her.

I believe the litter box is not big enough for her if it is smaller than the original, and she had no issues going in her corner box. If you look back on this post on page 1, you will see we cut the front of our boxes out and how we did that. You can also try a ramp to help her get in and out.

The simplest, cheapest solution is to cut her original corner box out in front to allow easier access. It can cause litter scatter but a good litter mat helps, and most importantly she is in the box and comfortable.

I don't know how to start a new topic.

"Litterbox stairs"

I purchased a 3 tier spice rack thinking it might assist my dear Skippy into her litterbox while she awaits her left, hind leg amputation scheduled for Wed., April 10, 2024. She chose to use it without any encouragement from me!

It is a less expensive option than a new litterbox for anyone on a slim budget.

They can be purchased for approximately $7 - $9 through Target, Amazon, Walmart etc.

I have been told today, as my sweet kitty has amputation, that we should not use littler as it may get in incision but use paper litter, I guess I find out today

Hi Kristin, welcome. I'm sorry about your cat's amputation. It will be interesting to see if paper litter works. Many cats are super picky about changing up litter all of a sudden. Keep us posted!

Feel free to start a new topic in our Cats Forum so we can help you through the journey! Be sure to check out our Tripawds Recovery Shopping List and our How to Help your Three Legged Cat book for more insight, and we will look for your new topic all about your kitty.

My cat was born with the umbilical cord wrapped around her leg. Her mother bit off her foot saving her from death. Ever since I've had her though, she won't use the liter box. I think she's afraid of the liter getting into the wound even though it has healed. She just goes to the bathroom all over my house. I get her to stop going in one spot and she just finds a new spot. I tried the soft bedding for hamsters and pee pads but she won't use anything. I've tried the liter box without a lid and I've made sure it had an easy access. I've put her in the box and she jumps out like she's terrified of it. Idk what to do. But I can't have her continue to use the bathroom all over the place. It's getting out of control. Please help.

Your post has been approved.

Thank you for trying to help this sweet kitty..  I personally dont have much ins for you on this challenge.  I'm sure you've read through most of the posts in this particular thread.  If not, it's chock full of tips.

How old is the kotty now?  So he basically has is leg, just not the foot?  Jist wonder if there is some type of unresolved pain from the way it was chewed off?

The only suggestion I would have is to make sure she doe have any urinary  infection or something like that.  I know, not much insight.  Hang on, maybe others can off some thoughts.

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Have you talked to your vet about this situation? Urinating outside the box is often related to a medical issue, not behavioral.
