Good news! I was getting ready to put her in a kennel to take her to the vet and when I opened the bed room door she came running out and went pee!

Yay for peeing! We love peeing! 😊

Luckily only our kitchen has laminated flooring. I went ahead and cancelled the vet appointment since she peed luckily. I wish I could find one of those harnesses but no where near my city has them and by the time I order one and it gets delivered it'd be pointless almost

That is SO great! I think I see her sparkle coming back!

As for how long it takes a dog to get used to three legs...every dog is different. Try not to compare. See:

Great news on the pee!  Sounds like it was a mobility issue with her.  Every dog is different, but many dogs will mostly rest for the first week or so, with very little movement.  That is good for them and helps them heal.  I would offer Otis leashed pee breaks every couple of hours, but if he didn't want to go, I didn't push it until it had been about 10 hours (I knew that was about his limit).  Each day, he got a little more confident.  One day, he moved from one dog bed to another 5 feet away - cause for celebration!   Many dogs start to perk up about day 10, when the staples come put.  It may look kind of bleak right now, but hang in there.  It really gets better, and much sooner tgan you would expect.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

She was a lot more perky today too. Definitely trying to get up and move a little more. She would walk a few steps and then start to stumble so she'd get discouraged and just stand there.

Also do you all have any tricks to get a stubborn dog to take medicine? I've tried pill treats and bread and she's too smart lol. I hate sticking them down her throat because I feel mean doing it so I just wonder if you all have any other solutions

Tramadol is apparently a really nasty tasting bitter pill. Get some stinky food like liverwurst. Use tweezers to touch the pill (don't get the scent on yiur hands), insert the pill into a ball of liverwurst, cover it up I to athe ball. Toss a couple of balls without the pill, then the one with the pill, then a few more. Should work. Some have used marshmallows successfully. Some cream cheese. Just cover up the scent and use tweezers to insert I to the "treat".

Resta d rest some more! Laminate floors are slippery for Tripawds. Try the non slip rugs or rubber yoga mats. May prevent her stumbles. But right now, she's still druggy and sore anyway. She'll get all the mobility issues worked out slooooowly but surely! 🙂

I never even thought of the scent of it getting on my hands. She was able to squat and pee by herself today and finally drank water also

Yes she's made lots of progress and has been much more active today and even walked around the house a little bit! She's still not wanting to eat or drink much and wouldn't touch the wet dog food so I scrambled up a couple of eggs and she did eat that really well. I'm hoping tomorrow will have as much progress as today has!

Eggs often do the trick, that's terrific! Whatever it takes. I'm glad to hear she's getting a bit of sparkle back. Hang tight, it will return completely in no time.
