Looks like Miss Codie Rae, Tripawd Girldog Extraordinaire, is going to dominate Tripawds' PR these days! She just made it into the New York Post!

"Watch These Now!"

Patrick Stump, "Spotlight (Oh Nostalgia)": It's easy to forget that Patrick Stump was the voice of Fall Out Boy, what with Pete Wentz's attention grabbing marriage to (and divorce from) Ashlee Simpson and leaked little Pete self-portraits. But, the fact is that it was Stump's stellar, emotive voice you heard on FOB records and in concert. With FOB on a break, Stump is coming out from behind the nerd glasses and hats to ready his solo debut. This is one of the tracks that will be on it. It is probably the most inspirational, can do, feel good song/video combos released in years.

If the three-legged dog underscored by the chorus doesn't get to you, you might just be dead inside.

Go Codie!!!

It's better to hop on three legs than to limp on four.™

Tripawds Featured on Pet News and Views

Many thanks to Michele from the popular Pet News and Views blog for publishing this guest post after we connected via LinkedIn:

Helping Canine Amputees and their People

Bone cancer, amputation, and chemotherapy are scary words. When my wife and I first heard them about our dog, Jerry, in 2006, we searched online for stories about three legged dogs. Aside from a few inspirational videos, we couldn’t find anything with comprehensive information about amputation recovery for dogs. So we started Jerry’s blog to share his progress with friends and family…

Every once in a while I will peek at this forum.  I don't know who FOB is or wentz, but I love that song and I love watching the video of Codie Rae jumping, wow!  The whole video was great, breathtaking… go pretty girl!

Indy's story makes me cry every time.  Her family loved, loved, loved her so.  Good for them for continuing to try and fight this disease even after Indy's death.

Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in the right front leg 8/23/10, leg fractured 8/27/10, leg amputated 8/30/10 http://sammyand.....pawds.com/   I couldn't begin to say how special Sammy is to us.  Living and laughing with and loving this wonderful boy is priceless.

Many thanks to Tripawds member Cheeto and his Mom, who just posted a wonderful article about Tripawds in the Examiner.com website!

Tripawds Live Happy, Productive Lives
by Janet Goree

Perhaps you notice your dog limping or a lump in his leg. Or worse he has sustained a traumatic injury. Your veterinarian tells you his only chance of survival and/or living a pain-free life is amputation. Most pet-owners will turn to the internet for information and advice to make this big decision.

Cheeto is a two year old pit-bull mix that resides in Camilla, Georgia, a few miles south of Albany. He was rescued after being abandoned on the side of the road. As he gained weight and grew more active it became obvious that his deformed front leg was a constant source of pain. A trip to the vet confirmed that his best chance of living a pain free life would be to remove the leg. His mom quickly reached out to a Facebook friend already raising a three-legged dog. She was referred to an amazing site offering information and support, tripawds.com.

It's better to hop on three legs than to limp on four.™

I meant to put this on the site in January after my daughter, the city editor of The Pekin Times, wrote this column, but it didn't seem appropriate to any of the discussion forums. Writing the column was a good catharsis for my tender-hearted daughter, who loved Sammy as much as she loves her Sosa. She is more flattering to her parents than we deserve, but that is to be expected, I guess.

While the topic is sad, it recounts an experience with which far too many members of this site can identify. And she touches on an important question: Why can't we be as humane to suffering humans as we are to our animals?

Here is the link:

Smilin' Sammy, March 16, 2004 – Dec. 5, 2011 Golden retriever, diagnosed with osteosarcoma in September 2010 — right front leg amputated November 2010. He fought valiantly to stay with us; but a second diagnosis of osteosarcoma, this time in his left front leg, was more than our golden warrior could overcome. He loved his pack — and everyone else he met.
We loved him even more. Thanks for the pennies, Sammy. They helped.
