Hi!

So my dog was diagnosed with osteosarcoma about 2.5 months ago. We went ahead with the amputation and he'ss due for his 4th round of chemo next week. Prior to amputation, he was diagnosed with very mild hip dysplasia. Now when he hops around I hear a click. It would come and go, but it's been audible for the past 4 days and I'm a little concerned. He gets Adequan (injectable joint supplement) every 2 weeks. He can't take any oral joint supplements or eat a joint diet because of his bad food allergy. Anyone have any suggestions?

Sounds like your pup has been doing well since July!  Good job!

Regarding the Adequan, did he first go through two injections a week for a month and then one injection every foir weeks??

Is ne doing it every two weeks now, only after that front loading up...and after following up with the once a month, but the once a month wasn't enough?

My question is probably confusing!  Sorry!

Is he showing any pain or hard time getting up and walking, or are you just hearing the click noise at this point?

Guess I have only questions!  Others will chimein who may have some better solutions for you.  A cisit with an Orthopedic Surgeon ir a Rehab Specialist may shed some light on things you can do.

Does he show any pain indicators right now? If so be sure to make a note of when they happen and how he reacts. Then, make an appointment with your vet. They will probably do x-rays and then refer you to an orthopedic specialist.

Our Wyatt Ray has mild dysplasia as well. We had x-rays done by an orthopedic specialist who was able to confirm how far the condition has gotten. Having those  x-rays is a relief so now we can gauge its progression, if it does.'

One of the things the ortho vet really emphasized was keeping Wyatt  fit will continue helping to avoid the effects of dysplasia. If you haven't already and you have access to one, make an appointment with a certified canine rehab vet after he sees the ortho. A rehab vet can give you exercises to do with him that will strengthen and protect his joints from injury. Plus, the Tripawds Foundation will even pay for your first rehab visit !
