Just wanted to give a heads up to anyone who is feeding  Evanger's Hunk of Beef with Au Jus canned dog food .

Pet Food has not issued a recall yet, but a representative told KATU that an effort to test unopened cans is underway.

This was on the news here, our news link below

http://www.wilx.....35015.html

I would hate for anyone to take the chance on this food until it is all been tested and confirmed one way or another .

Very sad!

Wow!  Hunk of Beef was Otis' last meal.  He loved that stuff.

Otis - 106 pound lab/Dane mix, lost his right front leg to osteosarcoma on Febuary 9, 2016.  Four rounds of carboplatin completed in April, 2016.  Lung mets August 25, 2016.  Said goodbye too soon on September 4, 2016.   Lost his adopted sister, Tess, suddenly on October 9, 2016. likely due to hemangiosarcoma.

Wherever they are, they are together.

Against The Grain Pet Food Voluntarily Recalls One Lot of Pulled Beef Due to Potential Adulteration with Pentobarbital

Out of an abundance of caution, Against the Grain Pet Food is voluntarily recalling one lot of Against the Grain Pulled Beef with Gravy Dinner for Dogs that was manufactured and distributed in 2015.

The 12 oz. Against the Grain Pulled Beef with Gravy Dinner for Dogs that is being voluntarily recalled, due to the potential presence of pentobarbital, has an expiration date of December 2019, a lot number of 2415E01ATB12, and the second half of the UPC code is 80001 (which can be found on the back of the product label).

Oral exposure to pentobarbital can cause side effects such as drowsiness, dizziness, excitement, loss of balance, nausea nystagmus (eyes moving back and forth in a jerky manner), inability to stand and coma.

Consumers may return any can with the aforementioned lot number, to their place of purchase and receive a full case of Against the Grain food for the inconvenience. For any questions, customers may contact the company at 708-566-4410 between 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM Central Time, Monday - Friday.

You may want to read this:

The Truth About Pet Food: Some Answers to two Pentobarbital Recalls

Evangers has claimed in a video statement to the publicwe didn’t even know about pentobarbital until this past Sunday” (video published 2/7/17). If this statement is true, it shows this pet food company was not aware of a very well known risk; euthanized animal meat is very common to pet food (per FDA testing). If true, it also shows this pet food company trusted their meat supplier way too much – it shows they did not check, double check and triple check the safety and quality of their ingredients.

If the supplier misled Evangers – and this could be the case – the pet food company was still responsible for the quality/integrity of the meats purchased. Consumers need all pet food manufacturers to be diligent in sourcing safe, quality ingredients.

Yeah, I had read that.  It wasn't that specific one but Evangers brand.  I am too scared to feed that brand again.  It was more a pate that I fed.    Too scary.

Enough health issues with this pack without having to worry about the brand of canned food.

Been using Tru Dog toppers instead.

Wellness Dog Food Recall of March 2017
http://www.dogf.....arch-2017/

March 18, 2017 — Wellpet of Tewksbury, MA, is voluntarily recalling http://www.well.....etter.aspx

a limited amount of one canned dog food because it may contain elevated levels of naturally occurring beef thyroid hormone.

What’s Being Recalled?
Recalled product includes:
Wellness 95% Beef Topper for Dogs
Size: 13.2 ounce cans
Best-By Dates: 02 FEB 19, 29 AUG 19 and 30 AUG 19
Best-By dates can be found on the bottom of each can.
No other Wellness products are affected.

About the Recall
Elevated levels of thyroid hormone may affect a dog’s metabolism and can be associated with increased thirst and urinary output, restless behavior and weight loss.

Multiple studies indicate that for the vast majority of pets, symptoms are reversible as soon as the pet stops eating product with elevated thyroid hormone.

Because the recipe is a mixer or topper and intended for intermittent or supplemental feeding only, the likelihood of a dog being affected is remote.

WellPet has received no reports of any health problems as a result of feeding the affected recipe.
However, the company is voluntarily recalling three best-by dates as an extra level of precaution.

What to Do?
If you have any of the 13.2 ounce cans of this specific recipe and marked with one of the three best-by dates, please email the company at wecare@wellpet.com

Or call the company at 877-227-9587.
U.S. citizens can report complaints about FDA-regulated pet food products by calling the consumer complaint coordinator in your area.

Or go to http://www.fda......complaints.
Canadians can report any health or safety incidents related to the use of this product by filling out the Consumer Product Incident Report Form.
