Just to elaborate on Michelle's post (since she beat me to it) this recall is on Iams dog and cat food and Eukanuba dog foods with select lot codes.

"P&G has announced a limited, voluntary recall of select Iams dry cat & dry dog and Eukanuba dry dog foods because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella. No health effects related to salmonella have been reported on these products. P&G is taking this precautionary step in order to ensure our customers and consumers get the highest level of quality and service. We apologize for the inconvienience this may cause.

The lot codes of the recalled products include: 3186 4177, 3187 4177, 3188 4177, 3189 4177, 3190 4177, 3191 4177, 3192 4177, 3193 4177, 3193 4177, 3194 4177, & 3195 4177. The lot code is located on the front or back of the bag at the top of the bag and is the bottom left number.

For more information on how to find your bag's lot codes, please see Iam's recall listing for dog foods, Iam's recall listing for cat foods or Eukanuba's recall listing for affected dog foods."

Just an FYI... this is the same company that makes Natura which had several recalls over the last few months. I wouldn't be surprised if Iams and Eukanuba release more recalls over the next few weeks.

Happy Hopping!

Barret was diagnosed with Hemangiopericytoma May 16, 2013. Front left leg/scapula/pectoral muscle was amputated on June 11, 2013 and we've never looked back. Follow our story on http://barret.t.....pawds.com/ and read my column on That Pet Blog

Not a recall but here's urgent news about American-Made Chicken Jerky treats:

According to Dr. Nancy Kay in her blog post New Information about Jerky Treats for Pets

New jerky-related problems

Ms. DeLancey was recently back in the news responding to reports of illnesses caused by jerky treats manufactured within the United States. In response to these new claims filed by veterinarians Ms. DeLancey stated, “We have found some of these products may contain ingredients from outside of the U.S. The FDA continues its investigation into these, as well as other, jerky treats potentially linked to illnesses.” The implication is that jerky treats manufactured within the United States don’t necessarily contain domestic ingredients. Whether or not the source of ingredients explains recently reported illnesses remains anyone’s guess.....

What does this information mean in terms of your dog’s health? Jerky-induced illnesses remain a reality, and a “Manufactured within the United States” product label is not a guarantee of safety. Until the actual cause(s) of jerky-related illness is identified, I strongly encourage you to avoid feeding jerky products to your dogs, regardless of where they are manufactured. READ MORE

As an alternative, make your own. Here's a great recipe by Cadence's Mom Heather:

Here is another one.  Stella & Chewy's raw freeze dried patties.  There are multiple on this so please make sure to click the link if feeding this

A long list of Stella and Chewy's dog and cat foods sold throughout the U.S. has been recalled after the Maryland Dept. of Agriculture detected the bacteria listeria in the food.

For a complete list of recalled foods: http://www.dogf.....od-rec…/

Please make sure your family and friends who might be feeding these products are aware of this recall. It's easy to miss on a holiday weekend!
