but she is gone. She beat cancer twice. She struggled with major arthritis but never lost her love for life and desire to be right by my side. In the end it was a neurological issue that took her. She lost her ability to walk. I cared for her day and night for two months afterward. I promised as long as her quality of life was good and she wanted to be here I'd do whatever it took. And I did. I have zero regrets. In the end it became overwhelmingly obvious it just wasn't fair for me to keep her anymore. So on February 16th we helped her to sleep.

It was surreal. I'm a great believer in God and his power. I had a whole army of people praying for me and God proved his presence. He promises strength, for those who have true faith, when they need it. When Roxy needed me to be strong he somehow dried up all my tears and helped me to talk with her calmly so she would know everything was going to be ok and she didn't have to fight to be with me anymore. She passed peacefully.

We had her cremated at a wonderful family owned pet cremation business. The man who owns the business also does human cremations at a different location. Human cremation is regulated so that there is a brass plate stamped with some different information that stays with the persons remains all the way through the process to ensure the remains are who they say they are. This isn't required for animals, but at this business they do it anyway as a sign of respect and care. So he took her paw print in some clay, took some hair clippings from her ear, above her eye, over her heart and off her back, and placed them in a box with the brass plate that was in the fire with her. They placed her ashes in the urn we chose so we didn't have to move her ashes ourselves. And Roxy came back home the day after we left her.

There is a petite boxer shaped hole in my heart, but God has been amazing in helping me through. I've had several comments about how I'm handling it much better than anyone thought possible and I have to give that glory to God because I have no strength in myself.

Thank you guys for your support through the years.

I am so sorry for your loss Leslie.  6 glorious years & two cancers beat?  What a Warrior Extrodinaire Roxy was.  She gave hope to so many just starting this journey.  And she will continue to do so for that is her legacy here.  She will be an example to so many who come here looking for hope.  You gave her the final gift you had left to bestow to her the gift of release to run free happy and whole to the bridge.  What a blessing for you to have found that wonderful cremation business that took such care and respect of beautiful Roxy.  It brought tears to me just reading about it.  I'm glad you get such comfort with your faith.  All our angels were there to greet sweet Roxy and welcome her.  Trust that God will heal your heart and soul and that someday your joyful memories of that sweet girl will once again bring a smile.

Leslie,

I'm so sorry that Roxy has gone on ahead.  You gave that girl a wonderful home after she wandered into your lives, no pup could ask for more.  She is one of the few pups here who started their cancer journey while my Maggie was still hopping on this earth and Roxy holds a special place in my heart.  She beat the crap out of mast cell cancer like a true Warrior Princess!

She has such a special soul, a soul that will live on in your heart and she will always be by your side.

For those who don't know Roxy's remarkable story here is a link to her blog: Roxy's New Life.

Sending strong, positive and peaceful thoughts you you and your whole pack.

Ohhhhh Leslie, we are so very sad to hear this and send our deepest condolences to you and your family. As amazing and wonderful and inspawrational as Roxy's battle will always be to us, there is a hole in our hearts as well. Roxy and you have been a part of this community for a very, very long time. It's hard to believe she's an angel now.

You definitely gave her the farewell she so deserved, how beautiful you found the strength to be strong while she was still present, that is such a gift and so selfless. It's truly amazing the power you can derive from spirit and those around you. Now, you know that the entire Tripawds Nation is holding you up as well.

Thanks to Karen for sharing her blog link. Folks here is another story about Roxy:

This inspawrational, cancer-fightin, butt-kickin Boxer girl was also the inspawration behind the Tripawds Have More Fun design in the Tripawd Gift shop!

As for her six year ampuversary, I say we can certainly still celebrate that! After all, Roxy didn't keep a calendar so every day was a reason to celebrate. Let's follow her lead and make today and especially March 2nd, ROXY DAY! clap

We send all our love and hugs to you Leslie, and your family. Thank you so much for allowing us to accompany your journey with Roxy, it's truly an honor.

Leslie, I am so sorry for your loss of your sweet Roxy, she lived a wonderful life, and sounded like she lived her life on her terms...... Beating ugly cancer twice and almost celebrating 6 years since her amp, just amazing, and yes, she definitely kicked this ugly disease to the gutter.

Your post was filled with so much faith, and love, and belief that God's blessing gave you the strength you needed to get through this heart-wrenching last part of this journey, I also believe leaning on his strength and glory is what got me through several difficult deaths in my life in the last few years. He gives the firm ground we need to help us deal with unspeakable pain. 💜

Roxy will always be part of you, and has forever etched out that little petite Boxer place in your heart...... You also gave her the greatest gift we can give our beloved fur-babies, that is the release of their pain when their body has worn out. I always have said that they have the most settled peace in their eyes before they go over the Bridge, they know, and they are ready......

Sending healing thoughts for continued strength, and hoping happy memories are what you think of most of Roxy...... I lost my own precious Tripawd Polly on this day, February 16, two years ago, she has also etched out a huge hunk of my heart and took it with her...🐾

I'm so sorry.  I know how much it hurts. What a great battle she fought...and won, in my eyes.  RIP and run free, sweet Roxy.

Amy & Spirit Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

First of all, heck yeah, close enough to say HAPPY SIX YEAR AMPUVERSARY ROXY!!! And I agree with Amy, she was VICTORIOUS in every battle thrown her way!

I was, not only blown away by the amazing life Roxy lived here on earth, but also blown away by the way you expressed how you found your Divinely given inner strength. As a result, you were able ro give yiur Roxy a loving and peaceful transition.

The void after caring for a Tripawd Roxy for six years, the change in routine, the intensity of the whole journey...it will make yiu grieve hard. Knowing it was time, knowing there are no regrets, will eventually give you comfort as the sadness fades. Oh, it's always there, but it will fade and be replaced with all the glorious memories of this butt kicking Warriir!

Because of dogs like Roxy, we allenter this journey with the hooe that our dogs will be a Roxy! What a special girl. What a special human. What a specw UNBREAKABLE bond.

You two have made a lasting and positive difference for everyone on this crazy journey. Roxy, dear sweet Roxy, lived her life surrounded by your love every second of every day...just as you lived feeling her lpve every second of every day. And that kind of love will never, ever leave either of you!

Roxy is a ROCK STAR here!! She has her very own tee shirt! That girl is famous! Roxy will NEVER be forgotten here, EVER!!!

When you can, we would love to see more pictures of this adorable Roxy with the cute mug!! We also like hearing about the different ways dogs send messages to their humans from the Bridge! Can't wait to see what kind of sign Roxy sends!

Surrounding you with Roxy's eternal grace

I am so sorry to hear the Roxy has gone to the Bridge. 6 years is not only a testiment to her strength, but yours as well. I know it is hard, they take a huge piece of us with them. Hugs, Lori, TY and Gang

Hello everyone. I never came back and thanked you all for your kind words, I sincerely apologize. But I did read, and greatly appreciate, all of your support. Losing my Roxy was so very hard, as you guys know. I really dreaded going back to work the next day because I have pictures of my puppies at my desk. I was afraid of breaking down at work. But to my surprise and joy I was able to look at her beautiful smiling face and smile right back. That's not to say tears don't come because they still do every once in a while, usually when I let myself linger on the memory of her last few months. But it's certainly not the norm. I've found a lot of comfort in all I was able to do for Roxy and the great love we shared. I'll treasure her memory forever and I'm so grateful that some of you will also. Her brothers and sisters have really helped me through and I'm grateful for them as well. We're always up to something with animals around here. Our latest adventure is we took in a stray kitten only to find out she's pregnant. Could've done without that, but at least they'll be cared for instead of born on the street and keep reproducing. Anyway, just wanted to drop by, say hello, and let you all know we're still at peace. And any chance I get to talk about my girl I jump on it. Everyone needs a dog like her in their lives!

Sally, if you really want to see more pics of my baby you can follow the link to Roxys blog that Karen shared. I put tons of pics up there.

It's.soooo good.to hear from you. Although I.know your heart still.aches and the void is still there, the peace you have found by celebrating Roxy's beautiful.and victorious life jist warms my heart. She was sooo loved and cared for exquisitely every second.of her life with you.

I think we all linger a little too long on those last days, it's just part of being human. With time though, we all start"lingering" in the happy memories, the joyous times and feeling their eternal presence more and more. But you already know that.

How has Roxy shown her presence to you? Has she sent you any signs yet? Oh, that's right, she sent you a pregnant cat!! That Roxy sure has a sense of humor!!winker

Yes,Roxy will ALWAYS be a Beacon of Hope for anyone starting this journey! Her victorious legacy is well known around here!

You come here and talk about Roxy ANYTIME! We love hearing about her!! Gonna go check out some more pics.of her on her blog! Her avatar is so darn cute!
