OK, how crazy is this? Today, on the opposite side of the country, I got to help THIS hound dawg go back to his family. Sally, the minute I saw him I was thinking of you and Frankie and Myrtle and wondering if his peeps knew he was gone. He had a collar with a tag, a rarity in my neighborhood where there are lots of dogs on the streets, so I knew he should not be out on the street. Anyway, long story but I snagged him and got hold of his peeps and they came to get him. Apparently he gets out a lot. Must be a hound dawg thanglittle-devil. Anyway, with Sally's story in mind I was just so happy that I could help Rusty reunite with his family. Yay! Maybe Rusty and Frankie both need to go to Hound Dawgs Anonymous to work through their wandering tendencieswinker

The power of the internet, Sally!  All the way from Michigan!  I took Michelle's original facebook post and just started searching for anything Powhatan County...I found the animal control, the newspaper, I posted to that guy someone mentioned.  I think I found a vet's office or a shelter, too laughingAnything!  I figured the more their picture was out there, the better.

I'm just so happy they're home!

WOW MARTHA!!! Goosey bumps jead to toe over here in Virginia! Thank goodness you found him! So many people would just jave ignored him and goodness only knows what his fate would jave been. I LOVE your idea of Houndawgs Anonymous! Too funny! "Hello. My name is Frankie and Im a recovering wandering Hound."

DONNA,the internet can only be "powerful" because of people like you on the other end! The actions you took are amazing to me!

Merry Myrtle and Frankie are still very exhausted! Frankie usually wants out a lot before bedtime so he can howl and bay at all the nighttime critters. I jave to bribe him to come in with a cookie. Myrtle spends her evenings bringing me her bavies/stuffie and pushes them on my lap until I pet her. Then she slaps her paw on me if I stop for a second. If she goes outside, she takes a stuffy. When she comes in, the first thing she does is look for another stuffy.. She greets me at the door with a stuffie. She has yet to do anynof that because she's just so darn tired! Not too tired to eat though!!

Awwww! Frankie does love his Myrtle. Myrtle, on the other hand, is just plain happy to be home, snuggled up on her own bed. Other than being tired, is she starting to feel better? Maybe she is saving up her strength for Tuesday. After all, it would take very dire circumstances for her to skip that puppy latte.

Kathi and the Turbotail April Angel...and the Labradork

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Really, really sweet Sally! It makes you wonder if they're telling each other "Uh, I'll never do that again, will you?" "No way!" they're probably saying.

Frankie is a pretty strong dog. It's hard to believe he went that far on 3 legs, especially missing a front one. WOW.

Martha that's awesome you saved the hound dawg from the mean streets of Oaktown. I can't imagine that was easy with the OP on patrol at home!

Awww . . . sweeter than a speckled pup under a red wagon. What I would give if my girls were bonded like that.

Where tha heck have I been that I'm just now reading all of this!?? I would have lost my ever-loving mind!

Harmony went missing once for 3 days and it nearly killed me, I can't imagine missing two!

Sally, you are so loved. You are such a testament to this community. I hate that you've had so much drama lately, but your support system here will always, ALWAYS be here for you. I know I'm a far-piece away from you, but this group makes me feel like you live right next door. Well, you do in my heart!

xoxoxoxo

Harmony became a Tripawd on 10/21/14 (MCT). She left us way too soon on 11/1/14.

Thank EACH of you soooo much! I LOVE reading your comments!! Some make me laugh, some make me teary eyed (in a good way), but they all make the dogs and I feel so loved!!! OMD!!! The bond we've all formed as a result of our dogs and cats bringing us together on this crazy journey...UNBREAKABLE!! And please know how deeply I care about you...please know that!!!superstar

I cannot describe the non stop joy in my heart...in my whole entire being...having Merry Myrtle and Frankie home safe!!! clap
I'm CONSTANTLY smooching them, hugging them, petting them, talking to them, smiling at them, just sitting by their sides shaking my head in gratitude for them, AND for YOU!! I just can't stay away from them for more than five seconds!

Do know that they stuck together...to know they never left each other's side...to know they snuggled together everytime they lay down to rest...unbelievable! Three loooong days and two chilly , windy and rainy nights, miles away from home...FOUND...TOGETHER...SAFE!!!

So that calls for more photos, right?? I think I heard a "YES"...or not!

Awww more photos, always! That last pic of them is just so sweet. They have this look about them that makes them appear just a little older and wiser. I really think they know that staying home is a better deal. You have a very solid pack there now!

My heart dropped when I saw the photo of them outside! They need to be chained to the sofa, grounded for life 🙂 They are truly a bonded pair. Love those two, and you too Sally.....give them a big hug and kiss from us (and one for you from you know who).

They learned that depth of love and loyalty to each other from you, Sally.  Dogs reflect the personality of the people in their lives and they couldn't have a more loving Mom.
