Tripawds is your home to learn how to care for a three legged dog or cat, with answers about dog leg amputation, and cat amputation recovery from many years of member experiences.
We're still hoping to make it to see you again, Gerry! I'll send you an update later in the week. Today's already seeming like a slow day for Holly - but it's already pretty hot down here. We'll see how the week goes, and keep our fingers and paws crossed that the stars all align! Zuzu wants to meet Gerry, too!
Holly, Zuzu and Susan
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!
Gerry's paws are crossed! Literally. He does it quite often. He's a rather dainty boy sometimes. Thanks for keeping me updated, Susan's pack!
Which reminds me, it would be especially helpful for me to know if anyone needs to arrive later and about what time you'd expect to make it by. The official start time is 8:30 a.m., in order to avoid temperatures getting too high, like last time, but for those traveling a ways, I realize 8:30 might not be possible. But I wouldn't want to accidentally leave before everyone who is coming arrives!
Only 6 more days!!!
Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.
He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.
Weather should be perfect tomorrow. There could be a lingering mud puddle or two in the middle of the park though. So if mud puddles have a magnetic pull on your dog like they do on mine, towels would probably be a good thing to bring along!
I hope everyone who was planning on coming can still make it

Gerry's Pawty was just mentioned on the local CBS news! Woo-hoo!
I was in the another room but heard "Badger Prairie Dog Park" and thought, "oh, no! I hope there wasn't a bear sighting!" and ran into the living room. Nope! They were talking about Gerry's Pawty tomorrow morning!!!!
(Bri, are you panicking, yet? There is always the instalment plan ... )
(Again, would like to clear-up, there was a bear sighting several months ago of one bear in that area, no bears since, the park is safe.)
Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.
OK - it looks like Holly and I will be there. I'll only bring sibling Zuzu if I can convince someone in the family to come along - I still can't quite handle both dogs together outside of our yard!
I'm hoping for an early start so we'll be there on time... or shortly after the start if I'm sluggish in the morning. Bri - I think I still have your cell phone number so will call if plans change.
Woo hoo!

Excellent! We'll be delighted even if it's just the us. Looking forward to meeting Toby and Zuzu and seeing Holly again - oh yeah and you humans too. Susan & Gwen, I will quick PM you both with my cell phone number in case you need to reach me tomorrow morning. If anyone else comes on last minute tonight and would like that number too, in case of evenutalities, send me a PM. I'll try to check e-mail and the site at least once more tonight and once in the morning. Unless my darn internet provider goes kaput on me again! That's what took me so long to get on tonight. I was like, noooooooo not on the eve of Gerry's pawty!!!
I am quite mystified by the nod from the local news. I suspect Harley's mom despite her "surprise".... alleged surprise...

The local CBS website is channel3000.com. I did not see anything listed on their site about the Pawty.
I had absolutley nothing to do with this. There is no alleged surprise here ... or is there. No, really, I didn't do it. They called it a Three Legged Dog Party, but said 4 legged dogs were welcome as well, that it was at Badger Prairie Dog Park, and that it started at 8:30. I just caught the end of it, but it sounded like they knew all about the Pawty and that everyone was invited to come check it out to learn more about 3 legged dogs!

Well, they could have gotten that much from one of the flyers. I guess that's what happened. Oh dog, I really should have gone to bed earlier if there's any chance they're actually thinking about coming out tomorrow morning (the media I mean). Ah well, Gerry's the people-dog, he can handle the schmoozing with the media, if necessary. And if they don't come, well the plug was still pawesome enough for our cause
