Alrighty folks, Gerry and I talked about it and we'd love to host another Tripawd Pawty and why not do it soonish so that I can replace the posters I put up at the parks with new ones with a new pawty date, rather than just taking them down?
So which dates and times work/don't work for anyone who could make the trip? (Could be subject to tweaking - I'm not super confident about my time choices for beating the heat).
Saturday, June 26th 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, June 26th 5:30 p.m.
Sunday, June 27th 8:30 a.m.
Sunday, June 27th 5:30 p.m.
Saturday, July 10th 8:30 a.m.
Saturday, July 10th 5:30 p.m.
Sunday July 11th 8:30 a.m.
Sunday July 11th 5:30 p.m.
If I'm stepping on any toes for Chicago-area party plans, I figure it's Chicago Tripawds' turn next and I'll suggest later dates AND be excited to come down!
Badger Prairie park in Verona, WI seemed like a good location. We have bigger parks and parks with water around here, but our lakes aren't the healthiest these days and we might never get a picture of two tripawds in the same place at the bigger parks! Haha! And for those ambitious enough to travel for an overnight, there is a dog-friendly Holiday Inn Express, already tested out by Three Legged Max's crew, which is super close the park.
Let me know with a reply post or a PM and I'll try to pick the best date and time for everybody! The sooner the better, so there's time to advertise. I did get a couple responses from people in Madison who couldn't make it this last time, but are interested in the future pawties, so advertising does seem to work - and maybe even better when it's not a holiday weekend, heh heh.

Alright folks, how about July 10th at 5:30 p.m. and July 11th as the bad weather backup date?
Or are people more in favor of meeting in the morning rather than evening? Based on the feedback I've been getting, that weekend is best for the most people, but the times are flexible. Input as soon as you can please!

Hey Bri, I just found out that Bandit and his Mom live in WI, she said they'd try to make it. I sent her a link to this discussion.

The 10th and 11th should work for us! We'll keep fingers and paws crossed that Holly's up to it by then. We did make it around the block yesterday with no breaks - so hopefully we can build up her endurance again.
Thanks for planning this, Gerry!
Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Yay!!!
Alright, I think I'm going to scratch the bad weather date for this one. Because having one the next day might be pointless if it is due to rain and the park becomes a swamp. And I can't do a pawty the following weekend, unfortunately. So, for those of you on the website, I will post an alert if we need to cancel due to weather and then we can come up with another date. And for those I hope to reach in town with fliers, I'll just put a note to contact me in case of too wet or too hot weather, if they want to know about rescheduling.
Therefore, paws crossed for July 10th, starting at 8:30 a.m.
The advertising shall soon recommence...

Alright folks, an added incentive to come to Gerry's pawesome Tripawd pawty on July 10th at 8:30 a.m. in Verona, WI at the Badger Prairie Dog Park...........*drum roll*........................
I have pledged to donate $10 to Tripawds for every tripawd who comes!
Come on everybody - make me panic a little to see so many of you! Make it so I have to pay in installments!!

Passing the plate for Tripawds... gotta love it! Thank you. But, you are too kind, and we don't want you to panic too much. Maybe each Tripawd who shows up could could contribute.

I might be able to make it. I'm in Stillwater MN, which is right on the border of WI. I think it's about a 3 or 4 hour drive to Verona. We are going camping the weekend before, but Charlie is a HUGE fan of the long car ride. We'll see how he does camping and when his second chemo tx is scheduled, but if we can make it, sounds like fun!
We've never been to a dog park. Time to try new things!
"I don't know where I am."
Yeaaaay! Hope you can make it!

With a name like "Viking Queen," you better be careful in these parts!Just don't show up in a purple #4 jersey, and all will be fine.
We've never been to a dog park, either; we were unable to attend Gerry's last Pawty, but looking forward to this one! Hope you can make it!
Let's Panic Gerry's Mommy!! Cha-ching!!
(Hey Gerry … wasn't there a bear at this park? Is it still in the area? You never hear anything about the bears anymore.)
Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.
No worries, admin. I can always pay in installments
Ohhh Charlie, we'd love to have you! If you make it, be sure to say something to Gerry about why long car rides are so awesome. We've got a long ride ahead for our vacation not long after the pawty. Gerry has gotten a ton better about riding in the car since I got him last November, and did great on our mini-trip to a county park about an hour and a half away last weekend, but… the vacation drive will be a long long ride. Anyway, we could use your good influence
Keep tabs on this thread – if the weather is going to be too wet or too hot, I'll post a warning and we'll probably try to find a good date to reschedule it for.

Oh geez, I must have just barely skimmed the story, because I know I read it originally, and you're right, at one point the bear was spotted on his way into the general park area (not the fenced in dog park). Wasn't that the bear that was also chased up a tree by one dog (looked kinda like Charlie too) - and we're going to have a whole pack! Also it was nighttime. But, if a bear is spotted during the pawty, I pledge an extra $100. If the bear is a tripawd, than an extra $10 on top of that.

Oh, that made me laugh. I so needed that.

Alrighty folks, a few important announcements for all those interested in the July 10th Wisconsin Tripawd Pawty -
First of all, I don't know about you all, but the Mill Valley groups claim to have "the-greatest-pawty-ever-seen-on-the-face-of-the-earth" sounds like a challenge to me. And they picked the same day as our pawty, no less! Let's show 'em how Midwesterners Pawty! (Well, maybe we don't need all that beer - I'm not sure what Verona's laws are on open intoxicants in public places. Just pretend.)

Second, a few have expressed the possibility of making a pretty long trek to join us on July 10th, especially considering we'll be trying to get an early start (8:30 a.m.) to beat the heat (watch it'll probably be really cold now). So, if anyone is looking for a dog friendly hotel, Three-Legged-Max's Mom found one when they came to the pawty in May and it's really close to the park. It's the Holiday Inn Express at 515 Verona Ave, Verona, WI.
Reminder: Badger Prairie Dog Park is located at (approximately) 6720 Highway 151, Verona.
At the intersection of Verona Rd and Maple Grove Rd is a driveway that leads back to the dog park. It opens onto Maple Grove Rd, but the intersection is just a few yards away. There is a wooden sign for "Badger Prairie County Park" near the entrance of this drive, to assure you you're in the right place. Follow that driveway back, there will probably be some extra stop signs still, due to some construction, and you'll eventually see the fences of the dog park straight in front of you and to the left will be the parking lot.
Those who are not from the area and/or don't have a Dog Park permit, the daily fee is $5. It is totally honor system. You self-register. I've never seen anyone checking.
Also, I wanted to announce that Daisy from the Minneapolis, Minnesota area is looking for tripawds to get together with:
http://tripawds.....ripawds/ Be sure to let her know if you can make the trip to her area. It would also be pawesome to have Daisy come down for the Madison-area pawty, if she can!
And finally, in the spirit of coming up with creative ways to support Tripawds during their funding drive, Gerry and I will donate $10 for every tripawd who makes it ot the Badger Prairie Dog Park pawty. (Also an extra $100 if anyone spots a bear, which is meant to assure you that the park is safe - see posts above from Harley's mom and I). So come if you can! Spread the word if you can!
