Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
Hi Steve! Ziva looks amazing! Glad to hear it was an easy peasy visit at the vet today - may they all be that smooth moving forward! ~ Stacy
Griffin lived an amazing life for 11 years! Diagnosed with osteosarcoma on March 17, 2020, Griffin's right forelimb was amputated on April 2, 2020. Ten days later he was running and playing fetch! Lung metastasis discovered in July 2020 did not slow down Griffin and he lived joyfully for the next 7 months, passing peacefully at home on February 11, 2021. https://griffin.tripawds.com
Haha I think that's the first time we've ever heard of the incision referred to as a zipper, I love it! And what a remarkably straight job your vet did, that's a nice seam. And with her fur being so short, it's only a matter of time until you can't even tell it's there. It won't be long now.
I'm so happy she's healing so well!

Just a quick update on Ziva:
Day 7, with her bandage off now my main focus is to keep her from scratching her zipper with her back feet. Fortunately she can't reach the zipper with her face so I don't have to worry about her licking it.
So last night was pretty sleepless for me as I didn't have a good solution. To keep her from scratching so every noise I heard I was jumping to make sure it wasn't her. Tonight I've got a plan, we made a soft wrap that simulated her bandage that was just removed so if she tries to itch it this soft bandage will be in the way. Cross your fingers cause I'm tired and need some sleep.
Good news is her seroma has all but disappeard already. So I think we are still on track. 4 more days till I HAVE to get my shop open. But our governor wants to extend our stay at home order till mid May. NOT we have not seen or received any help from the Feds or our state so I'm back to work no choice.
However I will bring Ziva to work with me to continue with her recovery.
I hope all the rest of you and your fur babies are doing well and healing up and thank you all for the posts and support and good thought. Stay safe!
Hey sounds like you came up with a great idea on the wrap. Got any photos you can share? I hope it helps you sleep!
As for going to work, what kind of shop do you have? I'm nosy! And I can't imagine how difficult it is to cope with amputation recovery and running a business and managing everything else tha's going on in the world. Hang in there! I'm sure Ziva will be happy to be with you as she gets stronger by the day. Let us know how it goes.

We have a powder coating shop here in Washington. We've been closed since the governor shut the state down about a month ago. So no income from the business, the pile gets pretty deep, one of my employees mother killed herself last week, Zivas surgery and cancer, plus I've still been paying my workers AND no help from the government federally or locally so getting a bit tough right now.
Anyway enough of that, Ziva is doing great and the soft bandage worked. I took it off this am and all is well. I'll take a couple pics when I put it back on.
Ziva has got the stairs mastered to go into the back yard. Granted there are only three but she's rocking those now.
Everyday gets just a bit better and yes I'm still glad and positive we made the right decisions.
Hi Steve! I can't imagine the level of responsibility you have right now as an employer when the state has mostly shut down. I'm glad that you will be able to bring Ziva to work and extra glad that she is doing so well in her recovery! I'm interested to see the wrap you devised to keep her from scratching at her stitches. Griffin's were internal, so I'm not sure if that's why he didn't seem bothered by them, but I used a human neck gaiter with a hole cut for his left leg as a body sleeve to keep his incision covered when we went outside for the first few days since he didn't have any covering on it. Good luck with restarting your business, and please make sure that you are taking care of yourself a fraction of how well you are caring for Ziva! ~ Stacy

Wow that's ruff Steve, you have got to be feeling quite overwhelmed right now. You are an incredibly generous entrepreneur to keep the paychecks flowing, truly amazing. Your employees must feel so thankful. I know I would. I hope you can get your business back online, thanks for sharing what you do. Running a business is hard enough without the world the way it is.
Glad that the DIY bandage worked! And that you got some R&R together. I hope today goes well.

Ziva pupdate:
two weeks since surgery and Ziva is doing fantastic.
She is off all meds and shows no signs of pain or discomfort. We get her stitches out in the next day or two.
Have not heard back from the oncologist yet so still unsure of future treatments.
Ziva amazes me everyday. Stairs done, in and out of the van done. Took her to work today and everyone spoiled her rotten.
I’ll update again when we figure out future treatment options.
Ziva looks sooooo good!! She looks fit and proud and pretty! Yes, she is so pretty!! It's hard to tell for sure, but it looks like her fur is growing back already. That's fast!!
Thrilled to hear how well she's doing. I know she is alr2ady showing everyone how she can rock being a tripawd! I'm sure she's impressing the the heck out of everyone😎
Thanks for the update AND the great pictures!

Wow she is so impressive! And yeah that fur already coming in is a terrific sign, her body is super strong and she's already kicking cancer's butt!
I'm so glad you guys got over the recovery hurdles so quickly, this makes me so happy. Give her some extra lovin' from us and keep us posted. Hope you hear from oncology real soon.

Hi Steve! Ziva looks fantastic! I'm so happy to hear that her progress is going as great as she looks! I must admit, I'm a little jealous about how much of her fur has already grown back. Griffin hair is supposed to be fast growing but is taking forever to make a comeback. Oh well, small issue in the scheme of things! I hope getting back to work was smooth for you and your employees, too! ~ Stacy

Hey Steve,
Those pictures of Ziva are amazing! She looks like she's doing so well. I'm so impressed by how much her fur has grown in already. Pretty soon, that scar will unnoticeable! Aspen is just barely growing a little peach fuzz 😆
I hope everything goes well with the oncologist and you all get a good game plan on treatments. Ziva seems to be checking off a lot of boxes on the list of challenges, and it doesn't seem like she's going to let anything get in her way!
