Our Saffy is really doing great! She's three and a half weeks after amputation. She's back to her regular activities and is eating great. Her fur is growing nicely. My only issue is that every time she sneezes or pants or licks her fur or anything and I worry that she's got metastasis. I'm hopeful that I'll chill out soon...

Glad to hear she is doing so well. She is so darn adorable!

It's very hard not to worry about every little thing (I'm one of the world's worst worriers...) but it really does take away from the good times. Try to take her lead - does she look worried? I'm guessing no! I'm guessing she's a happy-go-lucky gal!

All the best and keep us posted.

Jackie, Angel Abby's mom

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

Hardest thing a mom does, not letting them see you sweat.

After a cancer diagnosis, it really is hard to reset your panic meter back to where it was before.  For me, I don't think I was ever at a point where it wasn't somewhere in the back of my head, but you still have to remember to LIVE...  Like Abby's momma said, let her take the lead.  If she's not worried about what may come tomorrow, then try to channel a little of that posi-dogi-tivity!!!  Otherwise you could miss out on some really fabulous moments, because you're too busy worrying to see them for the miracle that they are!

Good luck, and deep breaths! smiley

Tri-pug Maggie lost her leg to a mast cell tumor, she also had re-curing MCTs in her skin, so I was always on the look out for any lump or bump.

I can't tell you how many times I was sure that I had found a new tumor on her belly and flipped her over to check it out.... only to find it was one of her tits oh-my!

There is only so much on this journey you can control- and learning to 'Be More Dog ' or live in the moment is one thing you can do.  It takes some practice- but it is one good thing that I learned on my 2 cancer journeys with Maggie.

In the meantime- just treat the adrenalin rush you get each time you think something is wrong as a cardio workout.  Then treat yourself to your favorite indulgence for keeping in such good shape big-grin.

That is Awesome news about Saffy!! I am so glad that she is doing so well!! And yeah it will take a little while longer for you to relax some about the worry. After a while you almost forget about the bad stuff. But I say almost because it is always somewhere in the back of your mind. But seeing you Dog run and play and being so happy can ease you fears. Good going Saffy you Cutie!!

I sure like how Micki puts it, about resetting your panic meter. It's true, the cancer thing is always in the back of your mind but just remember that you can't let that evil little creep rob you of your precious time together.

Saffy wins, cancer loses! Go Saffy!

Let's see some pics!!!!
