Hi Heather,

I haven't read all the replies to your original post but just wanted you to know that may tripawd, Maggie, is treated by Dr. Charles Loops for her soft tissue sarcoma.  Started with him in Dec 2009.  He's a great homeopath for cancer dogs and that is one of his specialities...

Good luck with your pup!

Tracy, Maggie's Mom

Maggie was amputated for soft tissue sarcoma 10-20-09

It is a personal decision, and I don't think there is any one single "right" answer--even in cases that seem identical. We had a lymphoma scare about a year prior to being diagnosed with OSA (EVERYONE, from our vet to the specialists, SWORE Sam had lymphoma...and, as it turns out, he didn't. He is just one of the rare, rare dogs who have a fast-growing tumour in their head that is...benign :p), and at that time, Sam was 11. If he had had lymphoma, we would have gone ahead with chemo.

For his OSA (DX and amp in March; although he probably had the cancer for 6 months prior, I can tell now, looking back), we did NOT elect chemo. Different cancers, different typical results/prognoses for chemo. We felt that the possible gains from chemo with OSA were not worth the tradeoff, and our resources would be better spent on a more holistic approach that included PT, acupuncture, and K9 Immunity Plus, among other things.

We are at 21 weeks post-amp now, and Sam is 13, and I think we're doing pretty good, all things considered :-)
