Thanks again Tracy! He does sound great. Will let you know how I make out. I wish I thought about this sooner but after spending so much time at the doctors, surgery, chemo etc., it was one of those things that didn't show up on the radar. But now it has! sf-smile

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

You are all very welcome! and, not to forget, there are soooooooooooo many other remedies for nausea. Nux and Ars are only the top two. Standard Process makes an excellent product for dumping toxins also, it's Parotid. This is a nutritional. It is a food based supplement so there should be no side effects or problems with giving it with other medications, but of course, it's best to check with your pets Doctor to be sure!

Thanks, Tracy, for the reminder about Dr. Loop. I had forgotten that we could do a phone consult, which could be easier than dragging Holly to yet another vet visit.

Kami - our oncologist explained that integrative medicine combines both western and eastern medicine. So it's not purely homeopathic. From what she said, they try to combine the best of both worlds based on the particular dog. The oncologist's practice includes 2 integrative medicine vets. One of the things I like about her practice is that it has a variety of specialists and provides 24 hour emergency care. But it's also more expensive than our regular vet, so we've opted to do Holly's chemo through her regular vet.

I've also had this homeopathic/integrative medicine stuff on the back burner because of all the other stuff on my mind - sometimes I feel like I'm in overload mode!

When I brought Holly in for her bloodwork yesterday, I asked her vet about anti-nausea meds. He mentioned one I haven't heard of before, and of course I didn't write it down so can't remember what it is. I asked if he could either get some cerenia in tablet form or give me a prescription and he seemed willing to try to get the tablets. But seemed unwilling to write the prescription for me to have filled elsewhere - would rather prescribe this other drug that he already has. Sigh. I wish I had written it down.

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

I'm wondering if the prescription your doctor wants to prescribe is Zofran or some form of (this is what Mackenzie's vet prescribes.) I know you can find this at regular pharmacies since it's a drug for humans too, whereas, Cerenia can only be found at a vet or compound pharmacy from what I understand. I gave Mackenzie Zofran for about 5 days this time and only gave her 2 days of the Cerenia. So this round was much easier on her, which I was happy about. Thanks for the explanation on integrative medicine. Sounds very interesting.

Hope Holly's doing well after her treatment. Keep us posted!
