Hi, Timber!
Harley also had Dr. Edinger (we saw him at Veterinary Specialty Care in Madison, WI). Â Loved our care from him; he always made me feel at ease.
I’m glad to hear Timber is doing well … hope he continues to do so. We’ll keep our paws crossed for you!!
Amputation on 11/10/09, due to Histiocytic Sarcoma in left elbow. Angel Harley earned his wings on 06/24/10.

...I think my surgeon was extraordinary! (Dr. Etinger, Arboretumview, Downers Grove, Illinois)...K-9 Advantage...any insights on it's effectiveness?
...wish I could post pics to show you how Timber the magnificent is doing...
Please consider posting your positive vet experience in our Veterinary Specialist Referrals topic.
K-9 Advantage? For flea control? Do you mean K9 Immunity? Many dogs here (including our Jerry) benefited from K9 Immunity and other mushroom therapies.
If you have the pictures posted anywhere online you can embed them here following these instructions. Otherwise feel free to send us a photo and we can add it for you.
Thanks for the great update!

Hi Timber's mom! Sorry it took me awhile to find your posts. How is Timber doing? Now that I've read your posts, I can see that his osteosarcoma was slow-moving, which is what they said about Holly's. Our vet found x-rays from almost 2 years ago that show the cancer just starting. We are still struggling with the decision of chemo vs. no chemo.
I hope all's been going well with Timber's recovery! The snow and cold here in Chicago haven't stopped Holly from wanting to take walks - and it sounds like Timber's been good with what nature has given us this week, too - that's awesome! I'd still love to see a picture of the two of you in your matching coats! 🙂

Holly joined the world of tripawds on 12/29/2009. She has a big little sister, Zuzu, who idolizes Holly and tries to make all of her toys into tripawds in Holly's honor. And she's enjoying life one hop at a time!

Thanks for sending all the photos Denise! Here are a couple that we added to Jerry's gallery page.
Timber is beautiful.

Yikes...that incision shot is STILL hard for me to look at and he was definitely not happy in that pic...
but he's fuzzing over nicely now and looking better every day!
Tuesday, 1/19, was his 5th chemo...he seems to be doing OK...appetite was off yesterday, so I gave him a Cerenia...don't know if it affected his appetite, but he's been sleeping a lot more...which is good, since they put the IV in his back leg and returned him to me limping and unable to straighten his back leg...
the vet said the IV shouldn't have affected anything, but when my sister had chemo, she said she had trouble with that hand and arm for several days afterward...maybe its different for dogs?...anyway, potty breaks are a challenge since he weighs 90 pounds...perhaps a few more days of rest and Cerenia and it will sort itself out...
The white skin must make for uglier incisions - I'll have to post some pictures of Tazzie's flamboyant purple skin during recovery.
Timber - I'd check with your vet if the limping does not subside. I have not heard of that as a common side effect - has anyone else?
I know that Adriamycin (doxyrubin) can damage the surrounding tissue IF the catheter slips outside the vein (no such effect for Carboplatin). But I am guessing that would be more evident as an inflammation and not limping, at least not so soon after chemo, so I doubt it applies to your case. When the IV had slipped outside the vein on Tazzie with Adriamycin, they said to keep my eye out for redness and nothing did happen.
Timber is a beauty! It's true what the say about handicaps - you don't even notice it after awhile. I haven't seen Comet's deformities in 10 1/2 years! It's who she is and that makes her special.
Keep up the good work mom and Timber!
Comet - 1999 to 2011
She departed us unexpectedly  January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
Timber is beautiful! I hope his appetite comes back and that his leg feels better really soon. 5 down and 1 to go, right? Way to go, TImber!! Holly did well with Cerenia - her appetite seems normal so far (I'm keeping fingers crossed). This morning she didn't finish her breakfast, but that is not unusual for her after a few days of eating her full meals. So I won't worry unless she doesn't eat her dinner tonight. Give Timber a hug for us! Hopefully when the weather turns nice again we can meet for a walk or something.
