I am not going to do the antibiotics. Not that I was not tempted. Then I was afraid I would do something to harm him further. I did some more hot compresses today and cleaned to area with peroxide as it was becoming crusty and sort of stinky. My bedroom smells kind of strange, like old skin. I found a piece of something blue and took it out with tweezers. it was not in really deep. It is only maybe in total 1/8 inch. Suture, His bandage( covering was blue.) This looked sort of blue/green. This was in his incision, but the seroma /cellulitis, whatever in the heck it is, is in front of all that. He did eat well today. Temp 103.3. I took it today just to make sure it wasn't thru the roof. He has what looks like a ulcer on one of the places (I think) they took a biopsy. I am hoping for results tomorrow. I am afraid it will take 5 days, they said 3-5 days. They were not too speedy on the last ones. Frustrated beyond beliefmadmadmadmadexclamationexclamation

So you found what may be a suture?  How is it looking this evening?  And did the vets check the site for a staph infection?  I sure hope Ty is feeling better today.  You guys have been through a lot lately.

Adelaide is a young tripawd Husky, from an injury.  Her amp was on 10/1/12.  She has 4 sisters, Aissa (a senior border collie/chow), Maggie May (a puppy Great Pyrenees), Mathilde and Morrigan and 1 baby brother, Bagheera.  We are all watched over by our angel Brendol, who was dx with OSA 1/30/13, amp on 2/6/13, and left us on 8/20/13.

Oh I hope tomorrow you get some answers, I can't blame you for feeling so frustrated. Poor Ty!

A mild soap and water is enough to clean the area, peroxide may cause further irritation so I wouldn't use it unless your vet says it's OK.

Yeah, I think it did.sadIt seems to be open at every biopsy site. Seems like every thing I do to help him makes him worse.sad It just smelled bad and the wet wash rags with warm water were not cleaning it well. Still does not smell so good. I actually thought he had passed away this evening. He had been outside, eaten a good meal, taken his meds and drank. Our Daughter came over, he got up to see who was here. He then went back to his bed. This in and of itself is not unusual as she is not an animal person ( my child, I find this so amazing) and he knows he does not get much attention from her. I went in about a half hour later to check him and he was so still. I called his name, nothing, then I jiggled his remaining front leg, nothing, I felt that cold feeling in my chest. Then I grabbed the side of his bed and lifted it. He stuck his head up like " What are you doing?" Proceeded to drink a half bowl of water eat a bit more kibble and a peanut butter kong. I guess he was just spacing on the Gabapentin. I will probably be up like 6 times tonight to check him. I am going to be so angry if something happens to my dog while we are trying to find out what's is wrong. As for a Staph infection, I mentioned that so I sure hope that is one of the things they are culturing for. I am starting to feel like we are on that old TV show Mystery Diagnosis. Just the animal version.

I was just thinking of something quite ironic tonight. When Ty was hit by the car when he was a year old, they were not sure they could save his leg. I was so relieved when they did, but if he would have had it amputated then, we probably would not be going thru this now. Would have, should have, could have. Guess that gets us nowhere fast.

I saw where you "picked out" s e sort of smething As i mentined in an earlier post, it wold not be nheard of to find a suture weeks later. I think Jerry even posted the lnk where that had hapened. Heck...anythi g is a possible "cause" at this point! I kow you're leavng no stone unturned!

Bryou kow what? Ty does certanly seem to jave s e of his quality back! He's eatng, drnking, gettng up on his own, certainly sleepng sou dly, likes his Kong......these all are an improvement!!

Now, yo already know to gkve ANY energy to wishing you had done something differentin the past just takes away from your lovng and spoiling tme with Ty! Heck, with Ty's luck if you'd had the leg amputated years ago, he probavly would have njured his remaining god let a day laterz!

To take tme to focus on Ty's improvement...it's there for you to celebrate!

Co tinuing wigh the cyber-hugs to you and Ty!

You have all the best intentions and Ty knows that, you are most definitely helping him by trying to figure things out. So it's Monday, now you can get on the horn and get some answers from the clinic, which I'm sure you've already done. We're all hoping for some good news so let us know how today goes.

Thought you mighty all enjoy seeing a picture of my boy looking a bit more alert today.way-cool He has not eaten today though. If its not one thing, it is another. He is, however, delighted with the fresh 5 inch snowfall today. He is the only one. laughing It was like a buffet for him. He asked to be let out again for more. By the way, the blue/green thing I picked out yesterday, look at his blanket. aw-shucks Was wishful thinking.

The picture shows a HANDSOME BOY with a BEAUTIFUL coat of fur!! If a shiny coat is an indication of a healthy up, he should have NO issues!!

Okay, I'm missi g your point about the blanket though.....huh? He looks very comfy on it and green is his color.

How 'bot some pictures of Ty in the snow?! And the crowd roars YEEEEEESSSSSS! Snow pictures od Ty!!!clap

Amy & Libby

Liberty (Libby) was diagnosed with OSA on 1-22-13.  Right front amputation on 1-31-13. No IV Chemo. Metronomic Therapy started 2-19-13 along with supplements and some home cooking. Lungs clear until 1-06-14.  She's still her happy, hoppy, bossy self.  Living the dog life to the fullest and a proud Winter Warrior. :) RIP my Libby 4-21-03 to 3-19-14

Beautiful eyes!!! Hugs Ty!!!!

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.

October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
