TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
Did you have them check for a rogue internal stitch still left inside??? Looks like "something" is causing an "abcess-like" bump with the draining from the red spot. Is it really, really smelly?
This is ticking me off, so I can only imagine YOUR level of frustration!!!.. all I can say is "keep on keepin' on"---answers have to come!
NURSE LUCY IS ADORABLE!! OMD, what a cutie!! Looks like Ty is in "good paws" with her! Smooches to Lucy too!

Nurse Lucy will make it all better!
Ugh. Hard to say but Sally has a good theory. Did you see this post we wrote about suture reactions?

Poor Ty. I can't wait until we see hoppy pictures of him feeling good. Give him a big smooch from us too.

I did. They did an ultrasound on it yesterday. It does not smell good, but not like rotten flesh either. It has actually drained a lot today. The bump is there but I don't think it has gotten any bigger.

Nurse Lucy is adorable...and I'm sure very helpful.
I'm glad to hear the swelling has gone down a bit....now if you could just get a definitive answer.
My "gut feeling" is that it is some sort of rogue infection....but I'm not a medical/veterinary professional....just a fellow tripawd pawrent.
Many hugs to you all over the weekend,
Linda and Tucker
Yeah, that is my gut feeling also. Maybe not even from a suture, not sure what the possibility would be of something foreign being introduced from injection/ draw. At least next week, if it is an infection, we should know the strain and treat. She talked like they sometimes have to cut some out. Poor guy. That is the only way I am putting him thru any more. By the way,There are 2 shoes on his bed. One of mine and one of my husband's. Cannot wait till I have to go back outside to look for a mate.

Shelby Lynne; Jack Russell/Shiba Inu mix. Proud member of the April Angels of 2014.
October 15, 2000 to April 8, 2014
Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife
Finally figured out the smell. It smells like burnt hair. So very strange. He is trying so hard, my daughter came home and we had company. I had to step over him in the kitchen . That has not happened in a long time.

Are they still thinking possible cancer there? Is it possible (just a theory, but my obsession with medical shows on TV triggered this theory) that something from the surgery could have been left behind? I know that's a little out there. The suture theory seems much more plausible.. or staph/infection from the biopsy.....either way I really hope you guys get it figured out soon. I'm so sorry you guys are having such a rough time. ..
Lori and the fam..
I would be thinking they left something behind if this did not all seem to star to after injection. I think it is infection. It has been dripping all day. Ty had a good day eating though. I have some heavy duty antibiotics from a surgery I had postponed. ( I have had bad staph) and I now have to take a strong antibiotic before any procedures. So tempted to try them , I mean at this point, what can it possibly hurt? He had to go off Riadyl as some of the scenarios for treatment have meds. That need to be taken after a wash out period.hmmmmm...Prednisone anyone?

I cannot tell exactly where the problem is in relation to the incision, but if this is on the incision, and there are internal sutures, this could be a suture reaction. We have gone through this with Codie Rae and it took quite a while to work it out (multiple trips to the vet and anitbiotics). When she had the problem it would get better, then worse, but it did not get fixed until the vet removed the suture material.

Let's not let the fact that Ty had a good day eating go unnoticed, okay? That definitely calls for a YAAAAAAAY!!
Hugs, lpts of them!

Hey Ty hope you're having a good day!
His health is so fragile right now I wouldn't give him the antibiotics until talking to your vet.
