Soooo glad to get an update on Rufa!!

It does sound like he is doing well for just six days after surgery. Yeah, being somewhat "subdued" is "normal" The pain meds are probably adding to him being "subdued". I love your description of how he is able to hop right up when there is someone to greet!

Rufa is a very smart boy to ot overdo walking around when he takes potty breaks. It's also a very smart way to get ro spend more rime outside.

Being outside does seem to perk dogs up some. If Rufa wants to lay out in the sun and sniff the breezes and enjoy the sounds of nature, that could probably help his attitude. Of course, we're talking just lazing around on a blanket, not running a marathon!

Someone will come along and give you links to post photos. I do know you have to first put them on something like "Photobucket" and then post from there. That's the extent of my techie skill! Pretty darn impressive, huh? Can't wait to see 'em!

Give that big teddy bear a smooch for me!

Hugs to all!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS. My Happy Hannah had a real saggy seroma too. It would start to go down some and then come back. I would take her to the vet and he would reassure me that is acting normal for a seroma . It did eventually go away and I never had to have it drain. Most just reabsorb on their own

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Good news on Rufa's progress! Our Ellie also had very limited strength those first weeks. She'd hop a few feet, then her back leg would just weaken and she'd have to sit down. I think this is pretty normal---the muscles are doing twice the job they used to and it just takes time to build them up.

Ellie also preferred to be outside. We found we could let her lay on the back patio and she was very good at self-regulating her activity so if you're able to keep an eye on Rufa, I would give it a try.

Denise, Bill and Angel Ellie.

Active 10+ Pyr mix suddenly came up lame with ACL tear in left rear leg. Scheduled for a TPLO but final pre-op x-rays indicated a small suspicious area, possibly OSA, which could have caused the ACL tear. Surgeon opened the knee for TPLO but found soft bone. Biopsy came back positive for OSA. Became a Tripawd 9/18/14. Carbo6 with Cerenia and Fluids. Pain free and living in the moment. Crossed the Bridge on 7/12/15 after probable spread of cancer to her cervical spine. A whole lifetime of memories squeezed into 10 months. Here's her story: Eloise
