Hi there just wondering if anyone's tripawd has developed a muscular "stump". My Ben moves the area often as if the leg is there. Or thinking it is , when he hops I see the stump muscle move. He was a full fore limb amputation on August 11 2014. We have debated aspiration , although it does not hurt and is smooth and uniform. Yet, larger slowly each week? Any similar out there ...( fyi mets showed up 10/27/14 he had 2 carbos by then. We switched to doxorubicin and he is stable mets as of Tuesday and had 2nd doxo yesterday.

Hi Kristen, thanks for posting. Please consider joining so your future posts won't have to wait for approval.

Hmm...not sure this exact situation has every happened to members here, as far as the stump growing larger, but it is definitely something you want to talk to your vet about. I'm sure it's nothing but just to ease your mind it couldn't hurt to point it out next time he goes in. As for the twitching part, that is totally normal, it's just the nerve endings that still haven't been told by the brain that the leg is gone. That happens all the time, even years out, as it does on the stump belonging to our Wyatt Ray .

Glad to hear you've got stable mets there, that's awesome! Mets stink but if you can stabilize them, you just kicked cancer's butt :)

Hi Jerry Thanks. Will likely aspirate just to be sure. I am thinking my big beefcake rottie is just going to have to have as much muscle as possible. I will try to take a video of the movement I am seeing it's not twitching as much as movement of the remaining shoulder muscle, odd to say the least. Can I post video here?

Hey Kristen, yeah it would be great to see video. The best way to do that here is to upload it to YouTube (Facebook doesn't let you share video on other sites), then paste the video URL here. Looking forward to seeing your big strong pup!
