Good Morning Friends- Well so far so good, yesterday was our first day of Chemo AND the new healthy food and it seems all has gone over perfectly.  Funny story-  I have only 2 pieces of furniture in the house that the dogs are allowed to loung on mainly because of the hair issue, but now that Jojo is a little sick it seems my husband has given in and let him up on the "forbidden" couch.... and don't you know Jojo took FULL advantageclap

I mean if this is not a happy dog I don;t know what is.... The trick will be to not let he and his brother now take over my "good" couch big-grin

Have a good day friends and I'll keep you posted as the week goes on- we start antibiotics on Friday.  Thank you all for walking this journey with me ♥

It seems like on the cancer journey a lot of what was forbidden becomes 'well, just this once' and then...

Glad Joe is feeling good!

Hello Friends-

I just spent some time re-reading my path with this community and it has dawned on me that I really have not acknowledged all the consistent responses and regular interest in my situation with Jojo.  I have been so so consumed in my situation that I haven't even responded direct to you- that's very self absorbed of me, I apologize.

Bonnie- the picture of your precious Polly and beautiful Maggie was so sweet and you're right it must be a Lab thing to lay with each other like that.  Sally- your posts are sooo positive and sweet spirited and I didn't even congratulate Merry Myrtle for the lovely Halloween pics and winning the costume contest.... hip hip hooray!  Karen and blessed spirit Maggie you are appreciated and inspiring... And Halo Jerry is always saying juist the right thing at the right time... In fact I just feel very appreciative of you all; who would think that such a tragic and sad situation would bring such calm and loving support from perfect strangers. clap  I hope that some day I can pay it forward and offer encouraging and supportive words of love to someone just starting their personal journey. I hope to have a positive story of outweighing the odds.

Thank you friends- post again soon

Mia- Joe looks so happy on that couch.  They know when they can take advantage and break the rules. So what if you have hair on your furniture. The joy on Joe's face far outweighs a little (lot) of hair lol

OMG... that's adorable!!!! Yup, very comfy and smiling! I love it!!!

Like Karen said - lots of rules get broken when a dog's facing cancer!

And Mia, do not worry about being in your own little world ... we are all pulling for you and your sweet Joe!!! It is time to be in the moment with Joe! Thank you for sharing it with us! We love happy dog photos and stories!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

Oh my gosh Mia, you do not need to apologize for a single thing. This is a very intense, all consuming journey and you are among a group of people who totally understands that. If and when you are able to be there for others that's awesome but for now this is your and Joe's time, be there for him and for you, {{{{hugs}}}}}

Thank you for the thank you, but it's not necessary to apologize.  We all go through the self absorbed stage, sometimes more than once in our journeys.

In this community you give when you can, and you take when you need.  No grudges, no judgements- just one of the things that makes this place so special.

I hope our Nor-Cal group gets to meet you and JoJo some time when we meet up in Mill Valley.

Praying for JoJo!  I lost my Golden Retriever, Goldy, four years ago to STS.  His was too far gone before it was diagnosed, so we had very little time with him.  I am glad you have a plan and that it seems to be working!  YAY!!!!!   My current dog, Eddy, a Golden Retriever, is battling osteosarcoma right now and is part of a study out of UC Davis.  What a fabulous group you have on your side!  Praying for all of you!!!!!  ~Betsy and Eddy

Betsy Golden and Angel, Eddy.  Eddy was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma 7-23-14, had a left rear amputation 8-07-14, had 3 rounds of carboplatin chemotherapy,  a small lung met was discovered in October, had 2 rounds of doxorubicin, and unfortunately more lung mets were discovered.  Eddy fought cancer valiantly and went to the Rainbow Bridge 1-6-15, at the age of 7 years and 359 days, just six days short of his 8th birthday.   Best Dog, Ever....you will never be forgotten.

Hi Friends- Well seems we had just a little set back over the last couple days; Today we went for our next round of Radiation and found out that Jojo's white blood cell count was too low and he was not able to receive radiation- I'm not exactly sure if this is common or something I should be more worried about- let me know your thoughts on this- I'm sure you've been through it as well.

The Dr. increased his antibiotics to 3 pills a day now starting today and asked that we come back on Friday to see if we can try radiation then.  Also, it seems the skin on the elbow tumor is starting to ulcerate which means that it is weeping and bleeding; I have tried everything to try and wrap it up but because of where it is all the wraps just fall down.  The good news is that Jojo is really loving the new food and I think he generally feels like himself, but I am starting to see that he does have bad days once in a while.... This pic was on yet another forbidden piece of furniture but also on a rough day.

I'll keep you posted and thanks for your feedback on the white blood cell counts sad

Jojo, pretty soon your humans will understand that the sofa never really was theirs to begin with. You were merely loaning it to them and nkw you're taking it back!!! And you appear to have quite a smug look on your face!!clown

As far as WBC, when my Happy Hannah was taking Carboplatin chemo, she has to have blood work done in between treatments to make sure here wbc was okay. With carboplatin anyway, it is NOT unusual at all for a low blood count to delay treatment. There's actually a theory that a low wbc means it's working!

Now, how this relates to radiation, I'm not sure, but I would think radiation could mess with the blood count. I don't think this is anything to be too concerned about.

Imw sure he will have a few up and down days during this treatment. Again. nothing to be alarmed about.

REALLY GLAD TO HEAR HIS ATTITUDE OVERALL IS GOOD!!! YAAAAAAAAAY FOR JOJO!!!clap

And remember mom, Jo is NOT worrying about a thing and is feeling just fine...on HIS sofa!! So glad to hear he loves his food too!

Stay in the moment with Jojo and continue enjoy the bliss of being together! Stay strong! Jojo is! You are BOTH doing great!! Keep these wonderful pictures coming!! We just LOVE this boy! One of those "melts your heart" kind of dogs!!

Hopefully others can give you advice on keeping a wrap on his leg....

Sending lots and lots of love and hugs!!!
