Thank you Guys!  I'm here sitting in the lobby of UC Davis, they came and got Joe about an hour ago and I probably have about 4 hours ahead of me before he's ready to be released.  I brought my laptop and prepared to just work from the dang lobby big-blink.  The Dr. said the plan today is to radiate the elbow tumor which is VERY large and then they will radiate the neck Lymph Node, the plan will be to start Chemo pills next week and see if the chemo will address the tumor in the thigh rather than have to radiate a third place.  The Dr. has informed me that although we have a general plan we will address the treatment really on a weekly basis depending on how Joe's body responds.  I really do have trust and respect for this team here and am VERY fortunate that we have the means via Pet Insurance to help with all these bills- today alone was $1600.00 sad  I took this pic last night as he prepared himself for the big day today...... His usual amount of effort.

Stay Tuned.

Good Morning Friends- well yesterday actually went pretty well aside from the VERY long day.  Joe came out of the procedure in good spirits and ready to go home. We have about an hour commute and he does really well in the car so it wasn't too bad.   When we got home he was ready for dinner and to spend some time with his brother and BFF Charlie.

As the night went on I could tell he was a bit sore and I had to coax and help him get up the stairs, but I don't expect that too last into today.   As we got us this am and started our morning routine, he was back to his ol' self... jumping around waiting for the breakfast of course.  I am planning to read up this weekend on diet and what modifications I can incorporate to help him just feel better overall.  I appreciate all your support and kind words- AND sure enough Sally I probably have gained about 10lbs in this process because i have been taking your advice and drowning my sorrow in chocolate! winker  It's ok though- totally worth it!

Our next treatment will be on Monday- Stay tuned.

Here's a pic of Joe when we got home last night, he was all tuckered out and bandaged up...

THANKS FOR TAKING THE TIME TO GIVE US AN UPDATE....AND A GOOD UPDATE INDEED!!!

I know he feels good to have some "normal" time with his BFF Charlie! Dogs just love doing their normal stuff!

Sooooooo glad he felt good today!! And keep eating that chocolate....weight gain from chocolate is healthy!!! We make our own rules around here when it comes to doing whatever one needs to do to stay positive and in the moment....and chocolate works everytime!!!

I just love seeing Jojo's pictures....he just looks so gentle, so loving and just so content. He KNOWS he's well loved, that's for sure!!

Stay immersed in the bliss of being in the present with Jojo every second! It's su h a great place to stay!!!

Love and hugs!

Oh wow, I was just checking in with Joe, and seeing the pic you posted of him above made me break down and cry......just flashed back to my Polly, and had a meltdown....... I was due, I haven't had one in a few weeks so it was time for one again...I do think my girl is definitely keeping a close eye on your Joe, and sending healing energy to him.

I am SOOOOOO glad he is feeling good and back to himself this morning, that at least made me smile! And yes, keeping lots of chocolate on hand is the perfect remedy, that and ice cream, and wine, etc, etc, !!

Please continue to keep us updated when you can, and keeping you and Joe in my thoughts everyday....

That is a GREAT update! Joe looks and sounds fantastic, I'm so hoppy for you both. How cool you live relatively close to the treatments.

If you have any questions at all when you're researching, don't hesitate to holler. Our Nutrition blog has tons of great insight from pawrents so stop by there too when you can.

Here's to continued success and hoppy days ahead!

Can I just say "You ALL ROCK!... The outpouring of genuine care and support reaches through the laptop screen and grips my heart. ♥-  thank you for staying interested and just lifting my spirits.  Bonnie- Bless your heart- I'm sorry we pushed you off the cliff- I have no doubt that Polly has been JoJo's spirit guide and is making sure he's getting the care and the energy he needs to get through this process.   I really do feel so fortunate to have found you and it was the Dr. at UCD that told me about this on-line community and really encouraged me to get involved- I sure am glad he did.

Since I am a little bit of a pic a' holic- I thought I would share a great one from younger days that shows how inseparable my yellow boys are- Charlie is 2 years older than Joe and when we brought Joe home, Charlie was not 100% sure he was in agreement with the idea of a new puppy!  But- Joe won him over instantly and they have been joined at the hip ever since.  big-grin  BTW- Jerry thanks for the tip on the nutrition blogs, I'll be sure to check them out

Nothing like all day at the vet to tucker a pup out!  And mom too- and you get to drive both ways.  Be sure you are taking care of yourself during this process- you need to be strong for Joe.  And don't just drown yourself in chocolate- be sure to mix in an adult beverage here and there smiley

And keep those pictures coming- we are all pic a' holics too.

Oh, my, gosh !!!! Mia, the pic you posted is so precious and it must possibly be a "Lab thing" !! And Sally is right, first in line I am, and with a pic of my own!! This is my sweet late black Lab Maggie at almost 5 years, (her birthday was Dec 23 and this was early Dec 2004) and my precious Polly at 5 months old. This is how they slept on my sofa, always....and the story was the same with my two, Maggie was 4 years old and not sure about another pup in the house either but after about 3-4 days, Polly won over Maggie as well, and they bonded quickly. So ironic that I lost both of them to the same cancer within 2 1/2 years of each other......I sometimes think Maggie was lonely for Polly over the Bridge, as she was much more attached to Polly, so she just wanted her with her there......

And please, no worries, you didn't send me over the cliff, lol! That already happened when I first lost Polly....just had to climb a long way back up, with the loving support and kindness from this wonderful community.

As far as pics go, everyone is right, MORE, MORE, MORE !!! We LOVE as many pics as possible....I truly believe it is the best healing and connective power we have to combat the sorrow of our pups leaving us.....

Love and {{{hugs}}}

Hello Friends-

Today was our second visit for radiation- we got the news that with the first treatment the tumor growth appears to have  been stunted- there was no signs of growth in either the elbow tumor OR the neck lymph node.  By our next appointment the team will know if the radiation is slowing the cancer and if we will continue down this path.  We also came home with our Chemo pills and will start them tomorrow with breakfast.  I also found a great simple and clean homemade dog food recipe  http://homemade.....aQodMlAAKA so I spent Sunday cooking up enough food to transition both my dogs.  I am excited to see how they do on well balanced home cooked meals!

I'll keep you posted as we kick off our chemo pills and start the new diet. smiley

Hope all is well with you- some new pics coming soon.

Mia
