We just had our X-rays and ultrasound on Wed, which came out all clean. So of course we were on a high We'd after our appointment. I just got phone call on blood and urine. Blood levels are normal but urine came back where they are concerned and need an additional urine sample next week. Dr says could be beginning problem with liver, but blood work so far doesn't indicate this. She's be cautious which I appreciate and respect. But.... I am frightened, and worried has anyone experience this.

Thanks

We did not have liver or kidney issues with prioxicam, but were unable to tolerate it for other reasons. In the end, we switched to tramadol and prednisone. Not quite the same anti-cancer properties, but it worked for us. We were not doing metronomics , though.

I'm not sure if meloxicam has the same side effects (they are similar drugs), but it might be worth looking into that one, if you end up having issues.

WAIT! We have a lot to celebrate here!!! Clean xrays and good bloodwork......that's a great big YAAAAAAAAAAAY!! CONGRATULATIONS!!clap

As Megan said the urine issue really is most likely a sympton from one of the drugs...really! Once the specific cause is identified the meds can be adjusted.

I know it's futile to say not to worry...but really...I doubt that this is anything at all to worry about, especially with good blood work!

And, of course the names escape me now, but there are all sorts of liver support supplements..milk thistle being one...just can't think of the one I used awhile back for one of my dogs from the vet.......seems like it started with a "De....." I know, huge help that was!!

Now, go look at that picture you took with Snoop sitting outside with that Guardian Angel and KNOW that all is well, okay? Really! I have such a STRONG feeling that this really is nothing to be concerned about at all!!

Now go give that handsome Snoop a great big hug for Happy Hannah and myself...and an extra onejist for you!!

Another big YAAAAAY for good xrays and bloodwork!

Love!!

Sally and Happy Hannah

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Try not to worry, it's good that your vet is on top of this. When a dog is on NSAIDs that's why routine, regular blood work is necessary, it can sometimes affect the liver. Some dogs can't tolerate certain NSAIDs but a switch to another one usually does the trick to bring levels back up to something normal. There are other options so don't feel discouraged. Keep us posted and hugs to you and Snoop.
