Hi, I've been offline a couple days because a virus ate my hard drive.  Its been one of those months, huh?!

Anyway, Tshuvah seems to be stuck.  She rallied a bit after her staples came out on Monday, but in general she seems to have very little energy, is eating poorly, and basically looks depressed.  I'm taking her to the park every afternoon for about an hour so she can see new people (which she loves), smell new smells, etc.  Yesterday she seemed really happy there, but today not as much.

Tomorrow we go to the oncologist even though the path report is STILL not back (it'll be two weeks tomorrow since amp and the tissue samples were sent).  Since the focus is on quality of life, I'm leaning away from chemo because her quality of life at this point is pretty poor, so I can't imagine how much worse if we add chemo in.

She's not on any meds right now, she doesn't appear to be in pain and her signs of nausea, like lip smacking, are gone.  Well, we'll see what the oncologist has to say tomorrow.  I"m going to ask about carboplatin, the Metronomic Protocol, and artemisinin .

Its hard not to have consistent internet access right now, I'll check in whenever I can get on my husband's machine.

Beth with my beloved Tshuvah, 10 year old "TaosDog". Provisional diagnosis osteosarcoma on 6/10/10, amputation of left foreleg same day, firm diagnosis of hemangiosarcoma 6/24/10. Set free on 9/9/10.  Treasured forever.

Hi Beth,

I've been wondering how Tshuvah was doing. It sounds like she's doing better but still not back to herself. I think the stimulation of the park is a great idea. I do all kinds of crazy stuff with Fortis to keep his spirits up. We don't get to leave the house all that often so I just get creative. Don't laugh but sometimes like tonight I'll start howling and this really gets him going. Fortis and I will howl for a good 5 minutes straight. The neighbors bring the kids in by the way (I don't blame them)big-grin

I'm sorry for joking around. I know your worried about Tshuvah. She just sounds a little depressed that's all. I bet in no time at all she will be back to her old self. We will keep our paws and fingers crossed for a solid path report and for Tshuvah to start feeling a whole lot better.

Good luck with the virus thing! Oh, please keep us updated.

Awwwwwwrrrrrrroooooooooo!

I like that Brett 🙂

And darn those nasty computer viruses! Agggh!

Beth we've been wondering how she's doing too. The fact that she's not nauseated anymore seems like great news to me! I know it's hard to see her other symptoms, but this little miracle is really a good sign I think.

If you're seeing Dr. Kelly please tell her we said hello. She'll get Tshuva feeling better, I know it. Good luck, and keep us posted OK?

Hi Beth,

I'm sorry Tshuvah still seems down.  My pug Maggie was down for several weeks after her amp, it just took her longer to adjust.  When I thought about it later it made sense to me- Mag was never very adaptable, she did not like new things or her routine interrupted.  So she really took her time coming back to herself.

Are you keeping a journal or log?  Bob always recommends that, and I do as well.  I kept a journal when Mag was doing chemo- I recorded her meds, how she was eating, her energy level and her temp.  It allowed me to track her ups and downs during treatment, and look for patterns and trends.

I was keeping a log over the last three months too- tracking how much food and what she ate each day, and any instances of vomiting. This way I could see that she was getting enough food, and that overall she was doing OK.  It helped me to have something in writing I could refer too since during the stress full times my memory was way worse than usual.

Have you tried hitting your computer with a stick? Even if it doesn't fix the computer it will probably make you feel better.

Doesn't this road just suck. Quality of life is the reason I didn't pursue chemo for Gus. Once past that first 2 weeks he just kept getting better. We hit a bump in the road a couple weeks ago, wasn't sure how he was going to come out of it, but he is doing ok. When we did the surgery we thought we would have a year or 2, but about 4 weeks ago found spots on his lungs, so I asked the family here for suggestions and metronomic therapy was suggested, which we are now into for our second week with no side effects so far. I am giving cytoxin with doxycycline. I didn't think the cytoxin would be to bad price wise, but found the more I bought the cheaper it was, and since Gus wasn't doing so well right then I didn't want to buy a whole months worth if I wasn't going to need it, so I asked for a weeks dose and it was almost half what a month would be. Anyhow I checked out a canadian pharmacy and  I can get it for 76 cents a pill, thats $76, thats how much our pharmacy wanted for 16 pills, gotta love it, but you have to get at least 100  at a time and it will take probably at least 3 weeks to get it, but that sure is better that $4 a pill, don't you just hate how these drug companies rip us off. Hopefully your buddy will start to come around, always have the glass half full!!!! Paws up, Gus and Dan

My buddy Gus had a left front amputation on April 7, 2010 and lived a great life until July 26,2010
