Erica & Jill
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. "Like" Jill's facebook page: https://www.fac.....tty?ref=hl Proud member of the WINTER WARRIORS!!!! Her blog can be read at http://jillsjou.....ipawds.com. xoxo
Awesome! I understand the dread and anxiety over those xrays. And then with that good news...SIGH! YIPPEE SKIPPY indeed! I'll give Jackson an extra cookie just for Hannah. YEY!
ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Oh gosh, I hope I haven't jinxed ourselves too soon..Happy Hannah just threw up big to e within about twenty minutes or so from eating. She had her chemo (2nd) treatment about twelve hours ago. Didn't have any problems from first chemo. I have anti-nauseau pills from first time......there was o warning though...no acting nauseous ahead of time...just boom.
Will give her a pill now....matter a little too late as she's already blown some really nice organic chicken and brocolli.
Knew that vomitinig was possible side effect but his soon after treatment and when she didn't get sick first time?.
I should have studied this site enough to know what to expect but just don't remember the vomiting this soon after IV carboplatin and especially because it didn't happen before.
Thanks very much for your wisdom and insight. Maybe it was just too much dancing?
Of course, the info. Is closed and won't be back til Mon. I may just go ahead and call emergency center for a little reassurance.
With continued appreciation, Sally and Happy Hannah

Sally how is she now? Did the pill help? From what I understand side effects will show up either in the first 24 hours or 7 .to 10 days later. If she's still sick in the morning call your vet. Keep us posted ok?

Hi Jerry It's roughly five hours since her puke session and......so far.....knock on wood......no more as of now. Gave her the cerenia. Of course se doesn't have a thing in er stomach! Yeah, guess I didn't realize this reaction could tart during this short a time frame. She seems tired too.unlike last time.
So, anyway, everything seems good and it IS
good! xtays and blood work all good! YAY HAPPY HANNAH!!
I'll introduce small ants. of bland food tomorrow and get her back on track.

Glad to hear she seems OK now. The effects of chemo can be cumulative so you might notice more symptoms as she has more chemo treatments.
Not related to cancer but our new family addition, Ruby, has had a lot of diarrhea problems due to food allergies. I tried giving her broccoli but I noticed it sometimes caused some upsets so I now add broccolini to her vegies instead of broccoli. It seems to be fine and I'm hoping it still has some of the health benefits of broccoli.
I hope your weekend is peaceful.

Yikes! That's never a good thing and kind of upsetting. Thank goodness you had the pills on you. Feel better, Hannah! Looking forward, you could give her the Cerenia the day of or night of her next chemo to help ward this off. Enjoy your bland, yet lovingly made food, Hannah!

Sally,
How is Hannah this morning? I am hoping no more puking sessions, I would continue to give the cerenia as directed by your vet and slowly add back the bland diet we talked about last night in the chat.
Jerry is right when he said effects can be with in the first 24 hours & each dog is different & Karen is also right when she said the effects can add up each chemo.
We had the Dr give Sassy Cerenia before the last 2 chemo appointments we had since she did puke on the 2nd one and that helped a lot.
hugs to you and Happy Hannah
