Hi everyone,

Mocha had his amputation surgery 4 days ago (right front) and I think I might have let him over-do it yesterday, or maybe it is just him adjusting to his new gait. He started limping last night on his back legs and licking his hocks.  I hope it is just strain from the adjustment of his gait.  He was OK this morning,a bit stiff in the back-end, but when we came in from the morning outing, he started licking again – just for a few minutes and not obsessively.  If anyone has had a similar experience it would put my mind at ease.

Thanks,

Melanie

we are right front amps as well.  our gait is pretty fast and if we go too far with our 'tripawd hop', our back legs and hips sometimes seem sore.  gayle has acupuncture treatments every three weeks, and this seems to help with spine and hip issues.  as for licking, sometimes it seems more 'diligent' than others, but i don't think it directly relates to her over-doing it...

charon & gayle

Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included).  She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
