Brian is so handsome and what a story! He's so lucky to have you. Welcome! I have a feeling he is just going to come out of his shell under your care! Xo Sue

Thank you all for the support! Brian's been feeling good for the past few days, we went off the painkillers so that helped a lot 🙂 He's not feeling so loopy anymore. We did our first post-op hydrotherapy session today. He is TIRED after that! We'll probably have to do many sessions, but we'll get there eventually.

Brian was called Tyson when we got him and since he didn't seem to know his name, we just chose a different one for him. We wanted something friendly, not 'I'm a big black dog' name. We have 2 close friends called Brian, one of them we call Bad Brian and the other one is Good Brian, so the dog is Black Brian. I find it hilarious 🙂

Great news! Nothing like ditching the pain meds to perk up a pup!

I love that he was named after your good friends!

Black Brian is a much better name than Tyson. Tyson's a little intimidating...

Hope he does well w/ the hydrotherapy.

Abby: Aug 1, 2009 – Jan 10, 2012. Our beautiful rescue pup lived LARGE with osteosarcoma for 15 months – half her way-too-short life. I think our "halflistic" approach (mixing traditional meds + supplements) helped her thrive. (PM me for details. I'm happy to help.) She had lung mets for over a year. They took her from us in the end, but they cannot take her spirit! She will live forever in our hearts. She loved the beach and giving kisses and going to In-N-Out for a Flying Dutchman. Tripawds blog, and a more detailed blog here. Please also check out my novel, What the Dog Ate. Now also in paperback! Purchase it at Amazon via Tripawds and help support Tripawds!

I don’t have a Tripawd fur baby, but I do have one going through stage 5 lymphoma. The chemo treatments have triggered seizures. I am part of a discussion group called Fighting Canine Lymphoma, and their are others on there as well that have experienced the seizures accompanied by the chemo treatments. It effects their central nervous system. Jaz has received 5 chemo treatments and has had 4 seizures. Her first one was in her sleep, urinating on herself and I. Her second one, she staggered around like she was highly intoxicating, then I picked her up and her body seized and she had no control on her legs and head. The one she just recently had, she plopped in the floor, lifeless and limp, whined and urinated. They all seem like they take forever, but hers last only seconds. I am so sorry you and your fur baby are having to experience this. You and yours are in my thoughts and prayers.

TAMMY!   So sorry your pup is experiencing this!!    Please tell us how she is doing!

When did they start?  Was it one after the first trestment, then a secone one after the second treatment, etc or have all four occurred after the fifth treatment?

REGARDLESS, what steps did yiur Ocpnco take to prevent these??  Im sorta' guessing the seize didn't ccur u til the fifth treatment or the Onco would not jave pirsued additional treatments?   Just an unprofessional guess in my part.

PLEASE update when you can.  Also, we would love to hear more abput your pup when you rjave time.

Hugs!

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

PS.  just wanted to add that, according ro Dr Google (so it doesn't mean it's trye), carboplatin can cause seizures in dogs as a rare side effect.  Again, doesn't mean it's true, but Dr Google had it noted in several sites thst I think are reputable.

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
