Hey guys! Rox is finally sleeping, so I felt like I could take a few minutes to update on HER HOMECOMING! YAY! The visit to the vet was pretty quick. They helped her into the car, and we made a quick ride home.

When we got to the house, it wasn't too bad helping her out of the back seat. She did take a minute to potty, and then we hopped into the house. She got to sit down in one of her beds (because you know, this dog has more beds than I do!), and got her all situated. I haven't put the t-shirt on her just yet, but it is waiting for her.

Our other dog, Spencer, was very happy to see his big sister. We had/have a leash on him, and let him come up and see her. At first she was laying on the incision, so he could only tell something was up. I wasn't comfortable with her laying on it, or the tube, so I had her turn over. He sort of sniffed around, but was in general interested in her and obliviously happy she was home.

I got up for a few, and got a drink, but when I came back she had got her butt up and hopped to the other side of the room to one of her other beds. That little sneak!  Here she is looking VERY proud of herself.

Afterwards, and for most of the afternoon she has looked more like this...

Later, I took Spencer off of his leash to spend a little more time with her. I was SO impressed with his patience and how careful he was being. Seems like dogs really do know. He didn't rush at her, and just carefully sniffed around. When he approached it was slow and careful. Such a good boy. Rox was also very patient with him as well, but she is the sweetest gal.

He even brought her a little frisbee!

I am praying for continued improvements! Thank you all for your support!!!

Oh my gosh, she is pure preciousness, and so is Spencer!! So glad to see Rox home and resting comfortably. I can't help but tear up a bit, she reminds me so much of my precious Polly when she first came home from her amp surgery......same leg and everything......even the sweet expressions on Rox's face look the same......

And have no fear, Rox will continue to improve everyday, and cutie Spencer will have his playful big sister back in no time. Our Tripawds are so truly amazing!!

Keeping you and Rox in my thoughts and looking forward to happy recuperation updates!

Rox looks great!!! Is Spencer a Corgi? He's adorable also!

She looks very comfy and very at peace! Kudos to you all. .. keep sharing the news with us. I am glad your pack is back together!

Shelby would do that too - move to a different location or bed or something. She even layed on her amp site from day one. I was concerned but if it didn't bug her, it didn't bug me. I think she probably felt more protected (Shelby was also a rear amp).

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

I'm so glad to see that Rox is home and comfortable! Those two are so precious! I'm totally convinced dogs know! Our huskies "little sister" was AMAZING! I was terrified we'd have to keep them separated but she just lets her rest up and just says 'hi' every once in a while!

It takes so much strength to go through a surgery like this so just remember how strong you both are!!!

Awww. That is the sweetest, bestest update! I'm just loving the pics, Spencer is a great nurse to Rox.

I remember that sleeping well, Jerry did a lot of that the first two weeks. Remember it's good for her, there will be plenty of playtime when she's healed up.

May the weekend bring you all lots of R&R. Keep us posted!

I can't thank you all enough for your support! Rox still seems to be doing well. She has always had this attitude of a bit of laziness, so she has been allowing us to do a lot for her. Yesterday it was difficult to get her up and about to go outside to do business, and in the end, my boyfriend carried her back inside when she just laid down. Our yard needs to be treated for ants right now, so I am not comfortable with her out there at all. It isn't an infestation or anything, but I got bit recently, and I would hate for her to go through that while also healing from her surgery.

Today Rox took her sweet time getting up, but took all of her meds without issue. That was a plus. She ate all her food, and has had plenty of water. Finally we were able to convince her to get up, and she went outside. Man she flew around the yard, just hopping around, I could barely keep up! She wanted to visit the neighbors yard, and tried going over there twice. Maybe when she is a little better she can go for visits, but not right now, lol.

Finally she came back inside, and decided the best place to relax would be under our computer desk. So that is where she is right now, snoring away.

I am a little concerned at how much coaxing it took to get her up and about. However, when she wants to go somewhere, she has no problems. So I guess I am just pushing her when she isn't really in the mood. I don't want her to wait too long to potty though, so that is my only concern.

Anyways, things seem to be going well. Drainage is slowing down also, and her T-Shirt has really helped keep the mess contained. So that is also a plus.

thanks again! Here is another picture of her, chilling under my desk right now. Don't mind the red spot, that is the drainage - I made sure to follow up with the vet on what was normal, and what was not.

That sounds pretty normal to me. If she's not in the mood to move around but everything else is normal, that's OK. Soon enough she'll be zipping around non-stop! You're doing great

Sounds like she's doing great and everything is going normally. Shelby also liked to 'nest' ... it's part of their healing. Great job, Mama!!!

BTW - LOVE her little pink booties!!!

Hope Rox does well!  The 1st few days will be up and down. She will probably sleep a lot because she is relaxed being at home. Try to keep your anxiety at bay as she will pick up on it. Your doing all the right things, keep asking questions we are here for you!

Seems like another good day. I felt bad last night, as it was a birthday party for my boyfriends father, so we spent a few hours away. But she was still pretty happy when we got home, and ready to head to bed. This morning was easy going, and took less encouragement to get her up and about. This time she went to the back yard, which is a little more of a hike, but nothing too crazy. Best news is that today was the first day she showed interest in a toy. She has been chewing on a bone for a little while, getting the hang of balance and holding onto the bone with her single front paw. She has been doing well. Drainage also seems much slower today. So all in all, its been a good morning and afternoon.

=D

Thank you for the encouragement. And her pink booties work alright, but only for short periods. I mainly use them on her when it is time to go outside and to bed, because she has to traverse some carpeted floor. I am thinking about trying out the wax that was recommended. If that doesn't work, we'll get a few more runners for the hallways.

Okay those pink booties are WAY TOO CUTE!!! I'm so glad to see Rox doing so well! The drainage is crazy! I didn't expect so much and was constantly calling the vet to find out if it was okay or not! We have carpeting and I wouldn't notice the wet spots and wind up stepping in them ALL THE TIME! bleck! She looks so wonderful! Keep up the positive outlook! It really helps! I really believe they sense our feelings! If you feel good she will too!!!

I am just now realizing that the draining is probably a good thing. Ty was bound in a compression bandage for his first 2 weeks. So obviously I did not see any draining. Now I am wondering if that is why he got the infection. Seems like draining instead of it building up in there would be better. Your little pack resembles mine a bit. Rox reminds me of my dog Chandler a bit and then I have Lucy the Corgi. Lori and Ty

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.
