Ok. So the hip/leg is doing better! Yeah. Yesterday Miss Rosie had 2 coughing episodes. Totally a new thing. Sounds like a cat when they have a hairball. They scared her and me both. She couldn't get her breathe. Is this the mets? It's been 5 weeks since we discovered 20+ mets. Darn, damn!damn!
Sometimes dogs will cough with mets...comes and goes sometimes. HOWEVER, the better news is that if that's the case, the Vet can give you some cough medicine! If needed, they can also do a bronchilator (something like that).
TRY and stay calm. I know it scares her and you both! But sometimes these breathing episodes scare them and that makes it mlre sgressful until they can calm back down.
Also, a tramadol may help too and can help settle her down. Sounds like it didn't last very long so she may not even need that.
AND, sometimes a cough is just a cough! But if it is related to the mets, you can get treatment, okay?
Can't remember if she has Prednisone or not, but that can help too.
Let us know how it's going, okay?
Lots of hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!
She's doing better? That's GREAT! Don't forget to celebrate that victory
The coughing could be anything from allergies to a dust bunny, to yes, mets. Keep an eye on things and if it continues, let your vet knows. There are ways to manage mets and keep her comfy so don't think the worst OK? A good discussion with your vet can put your mind at ease. Keep us posted OK?
