Over  the moon happy to read this update about your Chiffon! Such a Powerhouse of resilience and determination!

she only has one tooth so it's not like she could chew it off herself even if she wanted to lol.

Too funny!  We have to have a picture of Chiffon.  Here's a link on how to add pictures.  adding images

We are two weeks out of surgery and Chiffon had her sutures removed yesterday and her activity restrictions lifted. She is skipping around like it's no big deal living on only 3 legs - we are so impressed with her recovery! She does seem to still be experiencing some pain in the mornings so the vet gave us another 15 days of gabapentin, which we'll give her before bed and when she wakes up each day. Hopefully this protocol will continue to help her heal. The trickiest part of the incision seems to be where they removed the mammary tissue.

Super duper happy day! smiley_clapYou and Chiffon are on the road to better days ahead!

I really like that your vet is so good about pain control. It's totally reasonable to expect her to need it after having a more complex surgery than before. The additional pain control will help her body relax and heal even more.

YAY!

My ten year old pup had her right hind leg amputated this past June. I too cried a river, treated her like the queen she is leading up to the surgery day. The Vet cautioned me to not show any kind of negative emotion around her. THAT was really hard to do.

My girl walked to the car when I picked her up and slept the few hours home. The first 2-3 days were an adjustment period. After that keeping her quiet was a whole lot of work.

I purchased pee pee pads, didn't need them. The sling from the Vet was used for the first day and after that she made it clear that she didn't want anything to do with it.

She tires easily, hoping with one rear leg, so we've taken it slow. As of today, we're back to our daily walks. I've shortened the distance to one mile which we do in 30 minutes. As she gets stronger we'll increase the distance.

So, I now refer to my Queen as my Warrior Girl.

Hold on, take it day by day and let the pup of you tell you what she needs and wants!

Thank you for sharing Missy's story! So happy that everything is going so well. What an inspawration!

Sounds like she's doing well. There's so much to know about how to keep a Tripawd fit and getting (and staying) strong. We hope you'll consider having Missy evaluated by a canine rehab therapist. It's so helpful for us pet parents, that the Tripawds Foundation can pay for your first rehab visit . Let us know if you need help finding a good therapist, we are happy to assist.
