Julie- he looks great! He is about 2 weeks out, right?
You will find that he will move better at a quick pace- especially important for a front amp. But while stitches are in there should be no running....it lets them heal, but makes it hard to get around.
Sometimes a little 'normal' goes along way during recovery. Getting out and hearing all the sounds and smelling all the smells- what a great day to be Brody!

Brody boy is back and in full swing! He is doing fabulous. I mentioned that I took to bday party on Friday and he practically tried to play kickball with the kids. Then Saturday we host a Relay for Life Fall Festival at our business and I took him up there. Why not? He's a cancer survivor!!!! He walked around, laid around, got lots and lots of attention. It was GREAT for him. I am thinking of hosting another event in May and doing it for animals. I haven't fully researched but was told that Relay has one called BARKS. I think it would be awesome. And I have the best spokesdog too!!! He is back to laying outside on his blanket. I gave him a bath yesterday and BOY does he ever smell so fresh and clean. He had to walk down 15 carpeted steps and did great. Then I lifted in tub and all was good. He is a happy boy! His diet has changed a bit now. He actually wants breakfast and dinner served. So been mixing his wet and dry together. I only use about a 1/4 of the can and dry for each serving so the cans will last longer.
I am just so happy, Brody is so happy.. LIFE IS GOOD!!!!
Have a wonderful day. Thank you for all your love and support. I couldn't have made it through this without you!!!
Love, Julie
Julie you made my morning, this is fantastic! It's so terrific to hear you sound so upbeat and know that Brody is doing well. Did you get any pics of the Relay event?

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
Yay for Brody! We always knew you could do it.
Murphy
Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!
UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

Soooo, on Friday I realized I never heard back from ortho dr about what TYPE of cancer he really had. They sent the limb away but never called me with the results. I called Friday but they were closed.
I called Brody's ortho dr and regular vet this morning to fill them in on Brody and how well he was doing. This ortho is out of town at a conference so I left a message. But when I was talking to our reg vet she mentioned "yes, and I heard it wasn't osteosarcoma, which is great. It was a synovial cell tumor which means he doesn't need to do chemo". I was like "oh, I didn't know because no one ever called me." She said "yes, I'm pretty sure that is what she said". So now, I will have to wait to hear from ortho dr to confirm on Monday when she returns.
I am googling and researching this now. I did ask if amp would have still been necessary and she said yes, but honestly it doesn't matter to me. We DIDN'T know 100% what type it was and I wasn't going to take the chance of not doing anything and possibly having 1-2 months with Brody boy. I am still happy with our decision. Not so sure I want to disclose this to my dear husband though.....
Anyone know anything about this? Thanks, Julie
Just read this:
The prognosis of dogs with SCS was variable. Two dogs treated only with amputation lived for more than 5 years, whereas another dog treated with chemotherapy and amputation was euthanatized for pulmonary metastatic disease only 4 months after the initial biopsy. The average survival (31.8 months) was significantly better than that of dogs with histiocytic sarcoma or undifferentiated sarcoma of the synovium.
Well, if you want to be REALLY pushy (which I am because I have no patience) you can have the pathology report emailed to you just call the office and they'll send it I'm sure....just remember, there are things in there you won't understand.........You can probably do a search on the forums for synovial cell, I'm sure I've heard of other pups on here having that....but this is good news!! yay!!
Jill is a 9-year-old tuxedo kitty. She was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma in June 2012 on her toe in her right hind leg. Her leg was amputated on 12/12/12 and she completed four rounds of chemo (2 of Carbo, 2 of Doxy) in April 2013. "Like" Jill's facebook page: https://www.fac.....tty?ref=hl Proud member of the WINTER WARRIORS!!!! Her blog can be read at http://jillsjou.....ipawds.com. xoxo
I'm chiming in here on his adorable picture! We were SO thrilled when Jackson finally rested on his stump, too. It was sublime. Congrats, Brody! YEY!
As for his type of cancer, I don't know. How about you start a new post about it and start receiving direct input that way? It's hard to tell from your copy-paste if we should be happy or not about his kind of cancer. No matter...he's better today!
