So, a little while ago we signed up for a trial in Alabama. We are in NJ so it's a hike but we are willing to travel to help Jilly. Normally they require the leg to be intact, however, since the cancer most likely spread to the lymph node, they said they may be able to take her even though they never had a circumstance like that before. This is the only description I was given:

Purpose
Determine the efficacy of a conditionally replicative adenovirus (CRAd) in dogs with long bone osteosarcoma.

The gentleman I am in contact with said that we would have to pay to have the lymph node removed which is fine and then they would pay for everything else. But the thing that I think is a deal breaker is that they need to keep her for SIX DAYS!!! She has really bad separation anxiety and whenever she has had to stay at the vet without us, she would just cry and howl. I can't imagine six days. That is six days without her, six days taken away from the limited time left with her, six days she has to worry if we left her, six days where anything can happen. What if she passes while we aren't with her either from anxiety or from the trial. I mean....anything can happen. I don't know if it's worth it. It really is like handed your child over to someone.

Am I being ridiculous? Or do you guys agree? I can't find much on this trial so I don't know if it's worth it.

You're not being ridiculous at all, you're putting her quality of life first which is the #1 priority in situation like pet cancer. Good job! Follow your gut; if you think this will stress her out more than you and she get out of the trial, there's nothing wrong with not doing it.

Just curious who is the trial with? You might want to post a link to it in Tips and Resources for others who might find it a better match.
