Great news that the surgery is over and Linus is doing good. That phone call is such a relief and such a rush of emotions. Hoping for a speedy recovery.

Oh what a relief! Glad to hear. We have a very dear friend who works at the UCD hospital, I'm betting she's there (along with all the other great folks) taking excellent care of him. Keep us posted.

So great to hear that Linus is doing well from his surgery. We will be keeping you in our thoughts that Linus has a smooth and speedy recovery. Sounds like he is in great hands! All the best to you and Linus.smile

Kami (Mackenzie's Mom)

My sweet golden Mackenzie.  She became my angel on Dec 29, 2010 at the age of 8 1/2  although she was always my angel from the time we brought her home.  She was diagnosed with osteosarcoma in Sept 2009 and officially became a tripawd (front leg) on Nov 5, 2009.  She will be forever in my heart and now she's running free with all of our other tripawd heroes.  I love you Mackenzie!

You ALL really are fabulous.  Thank you sooooo much for the support and kind words!  I've prepped the house for his arrival and his truck for the ride home.   Can't wait to see my little guy and give him kisses all over his sweet face 🙂

Good for me to keep thinking of all the wonderful people caring for him at Davis.  I might finally get some sleep tonight.  I'm rather a zombie at this point.

Thank you from all of us!

Yea- you made it over the first hurdle.

Definitely get all the rest you can now.  The first couple of weeks can be bumpy and very emotional.  Stay strong and positive around Linus- he will be up and feeling good in no time!!

And someone is usually around here if you have questions- except maybe the middle of the night.

Alexander has his paws crossed for you!! He is 2 weeks post amp and starts Chemo in the morning (I am a wreck). He is getting around great!!! He is just a spoiled brat that doesn't want to eat!

Your baby. Linus is going to amaze you with his strength. You will have good days and bad, but when you celebrate his first poop, or him adjusting himself on the bed, you will give a little giggle, thinking we will be celebrating with you!!!

Slobby Dane kisses,

Shannon and Alexander

Does it look like mine did? I had the cushy ride for the 6 hour journey home back to Eureka!

Alexander is SO gorgeous.   Awesome that he's getting along so well.  We went through Chemo a few years ago with our eldery Dane Xeauie who had lymphoma.   Not so bad really in hindsight.  (course I says this on the day I bring Linus home from his amputation surgery 😉    Lots of hugs and kisses to Alexander from Linus and Silly.

Linus ate a big piece of grilled chicken breast and biscuit on the way home from the hospital.  He's really spoiled too 🙂  I don't know if you've tried it but Linus' favorite appetite reinvigorator is baked boneless & skinless chicken breast cut into little pieces and mixed into cooked white rice with a table spoon of bacon grease.   Never fails to get him eating.   I mix a few tablespoons of that in with his regular kibbles and viola!  he start eating his regular kibbles again.

We'll be thinking lots of super great thoughts for Alexander during his chemo.

Many, many GREAT dane hugs !

Nice ride for Jerry !  Really nice !  Wish I could ride around like that !!!

Linus & Silly have a crew cab.  When we first got it I took the entire back seat out of the second cab and then put mattress foam on the floor, then put carpet on top of that.  It's not as lux as Jerry's ride home, but with an added comforter on top of the carpet and some pillows around the edges he was pretty comfy and slept well  (until I stopped for grilled chicken at the drive-thru 🙂  The crew cab was nice because I could reach my arm over the back seat and give him a little stroke at the red lights.

Much, much love and thanks from Linus.   Silly's being a super attentive little sister/nurse.  Won't leave his side.

I'm so happy that Linus got past that first, big hurdle. Whew!

Like the others have said, the first two weeks can be filled with ups and downs. I have to admit that I was a wreck...stressed out and lack of sleep. Trying to remember, "now, is this normal?"   I still find that things that I wouldn't have given a second thought to  before the osteosarcoma, now I'm is that something??? What should I do?  Yes, I can drive myself nuts.....ok, it's a short drive.

But, that being said, you will be absolutely amazed at how well he will adapt!  That big painful leg is gone and yipppeee, I feel  better!!!

Yea Linus!

You're gonna do GREAT boy!!!

           hugs,

          Denise
