Thanks Tazziedog
What you say makes sense. Even though I'll probably go with the vet's recommendations for tomorrow (starting with Adriamycin), at least I will try to ask about heart issues, although I expect I'll only see the tech and not the oncologist. Hopefully his lethargy is not related to heart issues.
I had not heard about using NSAID in that way. I don't understand what you mean by 'reducing new blood vessel formation'. Why is that a good thing? What NSAID do you suggest considering?
Susan
I am not a vet, but from what I understand, tumors are fed by the producation of new vessels. If the blood vessels are reduced, the tumor has nothing to nourish it and sometimes they will cease growing or even deminish. We are on Adriamycin and our vet said right off that it damages the heart, but it is also the protocol she recommended, so that is what we went with. Good luck today with the chemo and let us know how it goes!!

I believe Tazziedog is referring to the Metronomic Protocol, which uses NSAIDs as part of it to help starve the tumors. You can read about it in My Metronomic Therapy blog posts, and here in the Anti-Angiogenics forum discusson started recently.
