Hi there, I'm new around here, my name is Kat. I have a 9 1/2 year old dane/greyhound mix with a tumor in the left distal radius. I've opted for amputation with no chemo. Here's my blog sharing why I chose the treatment option I did: http://unconven.....-word.html

I wanted to say thanks to everyone here as well, reading the posts like week gave me an idea about how luck I am to have a vet in the family and the courage to handle the diagnosis :)

A'Tuin's story can be found on my personal blog along with a dash of my life and poetry.

I said goodbye to my puppy love on 5/15/14 after more than tears years of the greatest love I've ever known.

Hi Kat, welcome to you and A'Tuin. I'm sorry about the diagnosis but as you've seen here, it's not the end of the road and hopefully he will go on to beat the odds for a long, long time.

Let us know how we can help you through this journey. Please be sure to check out Jerry's Required Reading List and our ebook Three Legs & a Spare so you know what to expect. You are more than welcome to ask as many questions as you like so don't be a stranger!

A'Tuin is just adorable.

What a pesky link! It's located on my blog which can be found at http://www.unco.....ogspot.com, I am on a lot of social media sites, so I figured it'd be easier to post one blog there and just share links elsewhere for updates, especially since I've recently switched the gmail account I'm using, lol.

For a brief update, A'Tuin is doing well while we wait for surgery on Tuesday. My step-mom increased his tramadol because we had to take him off the NSAID so he could switch to another one post-op. He's a crazy dreamer so I have to make sure his tumor leg is in a safe place before he goes to sleep so he won't hit it while dreaming!

Thanks for the new link to your blog spot...I was able to get on. Your poetry is lovely by the way! And taking ; Arabic... good for you!

I applaude yoy for really doing your research and for really grasping the value of QUAILTY as the most important goal That's a great attitude to have going in!

Yes, surgernhas it's risks. Yes, there are some dogs who get very little time and may even have somplications brought on by surgery that add to the "crap shoot"

But the mamority of dogs do very well and recoverfully to enjoy that most beautiful relatinship and bond with yiu that you could ever imagine! Loving and spoiling will be what you'll be doing 24/7! And taking lots of pictures and posting them here so we can see that sweet, gentle face!!

Probably the pills Laura was talking about are those used in the metronomic protocal. Many here have gone that route with or without the chemo.

We're here with you.....right by your side! Keep us posted as you go i to next week"

Now go write a lovely piece of poetry about your sweet A'Tuin ...--we'd love to read it!

(((((((hugs))))))))

Aww, thanks! I have a friend who's encouraged me to start sharing my poetry (before everything with A'Tuin), since I let that friend read a lot of what I write, so I started the blog with that intention (I had another blog, but it was associated with another gmail and I'm trying to associate all my stuff with the current one for professional reasons). I actually had to put off the Arabic because of my grandmother's health issues and that was a blessing in disguise because now I have A'Tuin's as well. Instead I am meeting with a private Turkish tutor to help improve my fluency until I can start back with Arabic. When I was first learning Turkish I taught A'Tuin basic obedience commands in Turkish, so he helps me practice too!

Thank you for the advice/encouragement of surgery and recovery. Two days away now! I'll definitely be updating and posting pics!

A'Tuin's story can be found on my personal blog along with a dash of my life and poetry.
