Your outlook, your strength, your poise ... amazes me. I am so in awe of how eloquently you were able to articulate your thoughts right now. I was an inconsolable mess even though I knew I gave Shelby the best possible gift - freedom from her tired body.

My heart goes out to you in the days, weeks to come. Calvert was so incredibly lucky to have in his life... What a life he lived. SO much love and compassion - all the while.

I wish I had words of comfort for you but just know that you are still in my deepest thoughts and your an amazing woman... what a lucky dog! And how lucky we all are to know you and your story.

Much love,

Alison with the spirit of shelby fur-ever in her heart

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

As I ditto everyone's beautiful words of comfort, love and support...

I join Bonnie in sobbing....sobbing for the PERCEPTION of loss...sobbing as we all re-live our own PERCEPTION of loss...sobbing as we re-live over and over our own emotions from the time their decision to prepare for transition is made to their actual crossover...sobbing for a life cut too short...sobbing for the temporary void you will feel...

.....and crying for the BEAUTIFUL and LOVELY way you have become so grounded in your fast-forward journey to ELIGHTENMENT! We cry because, as Bonnie said, your words spoken from a very wise place have uplifted us all and helped us re-visit what we know to be true...dogs are our greatest teachers...they all chose us for reasons ...they are VERY clear in their purpose.....You and Calvert are a superb example of the perfection of the Universe's plan for you two.

Thank you for sharing this magical earthly journey of the Zen Master Calvert! He IS enlightment!!!

Your recent pictures take my breath away.....so much love......so much peace...and you bet Calvert was excited about the next phase of this journey!! He communicated that to you in so many ways today...and you listened...and he is so grateful and proud of boy!

I shall light a candle tonight for Calvert....we are ALL better for knowing him...and you!

Love and light...

Sally and My Eternal Light Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle too

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Please accept my condolences and know that you and Calvert exuded Grace.  What a lovely tribute and ability to so eloquently put in to words how you felt. Calvert was a special guy and fate put you two together. May you find peace in knowing that he is no longer ill and that you did the kindest thing to help your best friend move on.

Ohhh Calvert. All day long I had hoped to see that you made a rebound here on earth, but I understand why you had to go now, as much as it hurts. The Tripawds Nation has candles glowing everywhere for you my friend. Please forgive us for mourning your loss because I know you want us to be happy, but I promise that at the same time, we celebrate your life too. What an effect you've had on this planet, what a way to teach all of us about living life to the fullest. You are amazing and always will be.

Angie, I know exactly how you feel. There is a huge sense of relief that often happens when we know that we made the best decision to help our beloved along to their next journey. Your connection with him is so strong, you followed your instincts and made the best, most compassionate decision for him. It's that sense of relief that gives you the confidence to know that you made the right call from him, there is a true sense of peace.

Still, we are sad for you and the pack, a loss is never easy. But wow what a life you had with that boy, you two have made the world a better place that's for sure. Thank you for that, and for allowing us to come along on your journey.

{{{{hugs}} & condolences coming your way.

I will be continuing this thread over to Coping with Loss, so look for me there. I am working on a slide show with every picture I have of Calvert. :) It will be a wonderful piece I think. I can't wait until it's complete and can share it with you all. Look for me in Coping with Loss.
