Thank you, those are good videos. Not sure what is going to be done about her chemo. She has been pretty sick the last 3 days but is better today. I think she should go back on the carboplatin for the osteosarcoma and treat for that or rather give it to prevent mets from that and let her have a better life but it is not mine to decide.
I'm glad to hear she is feeling a bit better!
I can only tell you from experience with others here that sometimes chemo just isn't worth the side effects. Have you thought about just stopping everything until she can get her tummy issues in order?

She departed us unexpectedly January 23, 2011 at the age of 12 1/2.
She was born with a deformed front leg and a tripawd all of her life.
poor zip!!! gayle had five rounds of doxorubicin. the third and fourth were very rough on her g.i. tract - diarrhea for several days and a couple of days of general lethargy. we got some meds for her belly which seemed to help (started with a P i think), and by the fifth treatment she got thru pretty easily. gayle is a solid girl, so loosing a little weight wasn't a problem for her - but i'd worry about zip being so petite.... paws crossed for improvements!!
charon & gayle
Life is good, so very, very good!!! Gayle enjoyed each and every moment of each and every wonderful day (naps included). She left this world December 12, 2011 – off on a new adventure.
Love Never Ends
Sounds like Zip is doing great, try to focus on that pawsitive! Best wishes for the vet visit, please keep us posted.

I really need some input from someone whose dog has been on doxrubicin. Zip started not feeling good on day 2 of new treatment. Started throwing up and having diarrhea on day 3 and still is having both problems on day 4 though the throwing up isn't so frequent since they upped her meds. Can someone else tell me how long it lasted with your dog and yes I know all to well they all are different but I need to see some light ahead.
I'm sorry to hear that Zip is not feeling well. My dog Percy has been through three doxorubicin treatments so far and has had about the same side effects each time. On days 4 and 5 after the treatment he loses his appetite and won't eat at all. He slowly starts gaining his appetite back starting on day 6, but he also starts having really bad diarrhea with some blood in it on day 6. Day 6 and day 7, I have to stay home from work to let him out at a moment's notice because of the diarrhea. His appetite and the diarrhea slowly get better over the next week. So usually the first week and a half after doxorubicin he's not feeling great, the second week and a half he is much better and mostly himself. But it's mainly days 4 and 5 where he shows it, in that he is lethargic. This has been pretty consistent all three times.
The first two treatments I gave him cerenia afterwards, but I did not give it after the third treatment. He didn't vomit any of those times, and his stool was less bloody without the cerenia, so I probably won't give it to him again unless he has major problems with vomiting.

I don't know how I can handle anymore bad news this week so praying for a clear scan.
We're here sending good thoughts for Zip!
It is very scary but try to think of good thoughts instead of how you will handle any bad news. Keep your mind on how wonderful it is that each day is a blessing with Zip. It will help you relax.
Think of you guys...

She had a wonderful scan with even a tiny bit of improvement of her left ventricle! I couldn't watch the monitor this time but the vet, who is a sweetie, she talked to me and kept saying 'oh, what a pretty kidney' and 'oh, what a great heart despite the mitral problem'. It was wonderful to take Zip back to her person with a good report this time. Thanks for the heads up about the chemo side effects also. We have the next dose on Wednesday so it might be a long week end but if she recovers as well as she did last time after 5 days, I'll be happy. She certainly gets weak and I don't like to see her not interested in eating but what's the purpose of eating if you are going to toss it back up is what that sassy border collie has been heard to say!
That's terrific news! Let's hope for better days!

Had a quick vacation with other dogs so have not seen Zip since Sunday but my daughter says she has been wild! Went to the lake on Sunday and swam as well and as long as the labs. Had more chemo on Wed. and so far has just had some diarrhea and no vomiting. Did read on the site here that after the first time there usually isn't anymore gastro upset. Hope that is right. Still find it hard to believe that she could have had two different kinds of bone cancer. Don't know what to think of that.
Sending more good thoughts!

We had a scare that ended up in the EC late on Friday night. I was dogsitting and she would go outside, do her stuff then would walk over, flop over and not want to get up and have a faraway look on her face. It happened three times about 2 hours apart and she seemed weak when we did get her back up. It was very hot outside and with this new chemo she seems heat sensitive but each time she was not outside that long and after being back inside and on the cool tile she recovered and was throwing her treatball at me. Wonder if not having her spleen makes her more sensitive to heat. After the third time my daughter told us to get her to the EC and she would drive in the 40 miles from where she was spending the week end. Her first real down time since all this started last August. Zip was fine when we got her there, ekg, blood work, and every thing else they did for her so off she went home. Don't know what that was all about but I didn't like it. Then last night do to a botched spay we were back at the EC with same daughter's rhodesian ridgeback that had been staying with us on and off during this time with Zip. In the end she died this morning and that was shocking. We all are exhausted from no sleep and grief and worry but we had the honor of being part of this sweet girl's life and she was a joy. We miss her and that and the joy are part of this pain.
How tragic... we are so sorry for your loss.

I'm sorry but I didn't understand if you said Zip passed away or your daughter's dog??
