How wonderful!  I can see his sparkle, especially with that shoe.  Oh I hope the night went OK!  So tell us, what drugs did they send you back with?  When is his next appointment - I presume to have his bandage removed?  Or, can you do that yourself?

WELCOME HOME, Ty!  You've been on our minds!!!!!  Welcome home!!!!

~ Katy & Jackson

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12.  Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ!  No side effects.  We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments.  He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors!  Our love. Our funny little guy!

Hi, I had a few slips the first few days until I got used to it. I had my front leg off too, but the left one. I'm having the stitches out tomorrow (2 weeks after op) Just take it slowly and you'll be fine.

Luv & Licks,

Louis

Hannah, We LOVE the cardbig-grinbig-grin Guess whatquestionquestionquestion the culture came back positive for MRSI. Just like MRSA in humans, just the dog form. I have been trying to tell them that forever. Anyway, we are making the drive down this evening to get bloodwork and meds. It has to be given by injection, which I can do at home , but his kidney function has to be monitored at start and every 3 days while he is on it. It is called Amikacin. Has anybody ever used it. Did it cause problems? It is apparently a very potent drug. I hope this does it. I hope I am not causing something else by giving it to him . Although, I do not see any other option. He had actually been given this for 3 days while he was in hospital, so I am assuming that this is what they suspected. Not sure why they stopped it. There is not a smiley for this but I am going: LAlalalalal!rasberryrasberry

TY GUY, Best Black Lab ever! Diagnosed  and had amp in January, 2014. Kicked MRSA's butt. Earned his angel wings on April 16, 2014. Run Free my boy and don't forget a shoe. Ty is a proud member of the " April Angels". Ty sent us Daryl, a Tripawd rescue in Sept. of 2016. Daryl is 5 +or -. We are also Pawrents to Chandler, a Border Collie mix who is 15 and 1/2, Lucy, a Corgi who is 7, 2 minis, 2 horses, and a feisty cat named Zoe. Zoe had a non skeletal Osteosarcoma removed in July 2015. No Chemo, she was at least 16. She is going strong although she is now completely blind. She is now close to 20 and her hobbies are eating and sleeping in front of her personal heater.

Well that explains why Ty was so sick!

I imagine if he was going to have any reaction to the medication that they would have already noticed when he was in the clinic.....and I bet you will be a wonderful "nurse" for Ty........do you have to worry about being infected with this as well?

It still seems like he is on the road to recovery.....with way too many bumps and hurdles.....

Take care...drive safely....and try to rest later...

You've got a movie in the works on this...a documentary......how to listen to the "inner voice" of the one who kows TY best!! And how to stay strong and not back down when doctors tell you there's nothing tht can be done...or it's not whatever you are trying to tell them itisa,!!

Is this the same ki d of infectin you had fter yor hospital stay? Wht did they treat you with?

I can only imagine poor Ty's thought bubble when you take him back to the vet ronight! I do hope you take him through a drive thru snd give him fries and a burger!! Go with a list of questins...specific questions and make sure you get clear answers....such as side effects...why they stopped...etc.

Nurse Lucy and Nurse Niki...you are true healers!!

Okay, we're all headingover to LALALALALALALA LAND where all our friends are!! CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES, COME ON!!

How is he feeling today??

HUGS!

Now that does make perfect sense! Mother's intuition is always spot on! I am glad we figured it out and we are on to treating it and making Ty strong and healthy to fight anything else!!!

Hugs!

Our story: Broke rear leg in June 2013 - non-conclusive results for cancer so leg was plated and pinned. Enlarged spleen in September 2013 and had it removed and was diagnosed with Hemangiosarcoma and started chemotherapy. Became a Tripawd January 8th, 2014 and definitive Hemangiosarcoma diagnosis. Three major surgeries in 7 months and Shelby took them all like a champ only to lose her battle to cancer in her brain. We had 8 amazing extra months together and no regrets. #shelbystrong #loveofmylife

This makes sense!  What an ordeal.  Holy cow!  I have high hopes this antibiotic will do the trick and pretty soon, Ty will be BACK!  He'll sparkle and dance with all the joy he's had to suppress for so long.  Here's a great first night home!  My heart is warm and happy for you.  You got this, TY!

No, Linda, they said it is the type that animals get. I am, however, to wear gloves when emptying his drain. The only thing we would have had to worry about is if one of the other dogs had an open wound. Thank goodness I got my Border Collies lick granuloma cleared up before this. They also do not think he is still contagious ,as he had this medicine while in hospital. Just ready for some quality Ty time.
