We used to giggle when Trouble would lean against the wall for balance while she ate.

Hi sweet Ella - welcome to our family. We're sorry that you "had" to become part of it, but nonetheless, you will find enormous support, encouragement, understanding and an overdose of love. Don't worry about the panting, that is all Zeus did for 2 weeks...pant and stare, pant and stare. I took him into the vet at least 3 times during the 2 week period just because of the "pant and stare" JUST TO BE SURE - and they were wonderfully patient. It's the pain medicine...at least it was for Zeus. It's a double edged sword because they do need it, but it really throws them off. The 2 week mark hit and we took the stitches out and he was off the pain meds and wow - he was a happy guy! Back to his old self...with only 3 legs of course
This is a very emotional time for us because they can't tell us exactly what is going on and we just love them sooooo much. Deep Breath and one day at a time. you are almost through week one...one more to go. Please keep us posted and know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Much love,
Heather and Zeus
Heather and Spirit Zeus - Our life changing journey…from the earth to the heavens…one day at a time…always together
Jack has been getting up a lot the past couple days just to stand in the same spot for a minute or 2 then he'll go lay back down. When he first started doing it I though he was maybe in pain, but now I ask him where he thinks he's going and he stares at me and I giggle. He's 2 weeks out of surgery and I think he's starting to get annoyed with how we don't let him do anything. We live in a 3rd floor apartment and after the HUGE mistake of letting him walk up the stairs the week after surgery, I carry him down and up now. Well, today he's been doing a LOT of the random standing and when we walked in the front door after going outside, I turned around briefly to shut the door and when I looked back he'd already bounded up the first flight and was thinking of starting on the second. I think our little snuggles are just ANTSY!!!
Aw. Jack sounds a bit like Ella. They think they can conquer the world and are impatient with us when we hold them back! It is a shame we can't get all the survivors in a room and show the world what they can accomplish. (I bet the room would be enormous.) Ella looks at me when I ask her what she is up to, too. She wags her tail and then "rolls her eyes" at me like I am the idiot.
Ella used to LOVE running (read: bounding) up and down stairs. I can't wait to see her figure out how it goes with her new special-super-abilities-on-3-legs.
Our snuggles are antsy and lovey and determined to live life at full-speed. I can't wait!
Thanks for your post,
Anna and Ella
