so Howard had finished his dinner last night then a few minutes later he choked and then coughed. He coughed again later and once today. He is eating fine and doing well otherwise. But now I’m worried since he coughed maybe he has lung Mets. He had a dose of oral lasix today with his chemo and I wonder if that one dose could decrease his cough today, ugh I just get my self so worked up over this. I had planned not to do more diagnostics but now wonder if that is the right choice. I may be one of those people that needs to know. Sorry just needed to vent.

This isn't even close to a real big  vent!  So we'll just assume you re  holding some of the vent inside!  Not good!

Now, hopefully to out your mind at ease.  Even though my Hapoh Hannah developed  a big met, she never coughed!  Yes, that can be a "symptom" in some dogs, but certainly  not all.

Since the cough came after he ate, it may have just have been a "down the wrong pipe" kind of thing.  And maybe his throat was slight irritated  and that's  why you saw another cough later.

And another thing to consider someone  mentioned  here one time.  Dogs cough every now and then, or they sneeze every now and then, etc.  We never even paid  attention.   But this journey makes you notice EVERYTHING!!!!

Just my penny's worth, and I have a feeling you'll get some opposite pennys worth. 😉  I'f the cough continues over this next week, then YOU could maybe have the Vet check him out.  It may not even include  xrays.  It may be something  as simple as listen to his chest for any respiratory infection, etc.  So, just watch and see if it's  just an isolated hack for a day or two, and go from there.

Howard feels sone and is eating and drinking  just fine!  He's  being Howard  and that speaks volumes!

Hugs

Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

Hi sweetie 🌸🐾

I totally agree with Sally.

Howard coughed after he ate and subsequent times may well reflect an irritated throat.

Just like Happy Hannah, my Angel Eurydice never coughed despite developing a catastrophic amount of mets.

I would leave it for a few days and if he kept coughing will then have him checked, if not, no.

Sending hugs and cuddles 😘🐮💫✨🌟🌹

Eurydice 77kg/170lb Great Dane limping end of April 2016, amputation (right front leg/osteosarcoma) 4 May 2016 6 courses of carboplatin followed by metronomic therapy, lung mets found 30 Nov 2016. 3 courses of doxorubicin, PET scan 26 Jan 2017 showed more mets so stopped chemo. Holistic route April 2017. Lung X-ray 5 May 2017 showed several tennis ball size mets, started cortisone and diuretics. Miss Cow earned her XXL silver wings 12 June 2017, 13 months and 1 week after amputation and 6 1/2 months after lung mets, she was the goofiest dawg ever and is now happily flying from cloud to cloud woof woofing away :-)
