That happened with Murphy, too. They told us it was an after effect of the surgery and would get better. It did.

Kathi and murphy

Murphy is a five year old Lab/Chessie cross. He was hit by a car on 10/29/12 and became a Tripawd on 11/24/12. On 2/5/13, he had a total hip replacement on his remaining back leg. He has absolutely no idea that he has only three legs!

UPDATE: Murphy lived his life to the fullest, right up until an aggressive bone lesion took him across the Rainbow Bridge on April 9, 2015 and he gained his membership in the April Angels. Run free, my love. You deserve it!

OK can I just say you guys are an adorable family?!!!

I'm thrilled to hear he's doing so well. The privates thing...well, I know that amputation creates swelling internally and out, especially for rear-leggers so it's probably normal and OK (especially since he's not having problems eliminating) but just mention it to your vet to be safe.

I hope today goes even better. Keep us posteD!

I hope you've had as good of an experience with UW Madison as I did four years ago with my first tripawd, Yoda!  He had his amputation and chemo there (osteosarcoma).  My current tripawd, Gerry, was still in the care of a local shelter when he got his, or I definitely would have taken him there for his amputation as well.  Best wishes to Montana that it continues to be smooth sailing through recovery. big-grin

Gerry has been a tripawd since 12/16/2009.

He was a shelter dog with a mysterious past and an irrepairable knee injury.

Videos and pics of Gerry's pawesomeness can be found at: http://gerry.tripawds.com
