Yay! Love to hear good news that all is going good. My husband built stairs for Shooter and once he figured out we weren't going to let him jump on and off the bed he took right to them to go up and down and even the quad pawds decided they were much better than jumping on and off. Now that Shooter is gone we decided to keep them for the other dogs.
Looking forward to more updates (and pictures - Sally will harass you until you get some on here ...).
Take care-
Luanne & Spirit Shooter
Spirit Shooter was a Miniature Australian Shepherd who was diagnosed with a MCT and had a LF amp 1/28/13 at 13-1/2 years old.
Shooter crossed the Bridge on 8/28/13, his 7 month ampuversary and two weeks from his 14th birthday.
Ok update Time!!!! We just got him home and I am shocked to say the least at how he is doing. they brought him out from the back on a leash walking on his own. We walked him outside to see if he would go potty before we headed home but no luck. So I had to pick him up and get him in the van and headed home. We got home he without thinking tried to jump out of the van, lucky I caught him. I then took him out into our back yard to see if he would go and boy did he pee and pee and pee. yea!!! then I brought him into the house and he was pulling me the entire time. we have a couple of steps to get in the house and he just hoped up them like it was nothing. I just cat believe how amazing he is doing.. He has drank at least 2 quarts of water. Our other furry kids have been great with him so far. The one thing is that he likes to sleep on his right side. but it is to sore to. but that should pass with time . I will post some pictures when I figure out how to. Is it easer to post them on the facebook page or here ? Another thing I has noticed is he is acting almost as if nothing happened.
HOORAY!! This is wonderful news, I am so happy for you guys!! Boomer used to sleep on one side for a while then roll over, turning regularly for even coverage. He would only sleep on his left side after surgery, it took five weeks and six days for him to sleep on his right side again (in other words, yesterday was the first time since his surgery that I saw him sleeping on his right side). Some dogs do it more quickly than others. When Boomer came home, he made a beeline for the water bowl and just gulped it down, I had to stop him from drinking too much at once but made sure to offer it to him regularly. Peeing wasn't a problem for him but it did take a couple of days for him to poop, of course he went for two full days without eating while he was at the hospital. The hardest part about the first poop is figuring out how to balance to do it.
We'll keep our fingers and paws crossed that things continue to go smoothly!
Yay! Glad he's home. Dont be too surprised if he slows down over the next few days, it's very commn.

Sounds like you're off to a good and fast start with this new chapter in Montana's life! My husband was jogging to keep up with Roxie after 3 days post-amp...he hadn't jogged in 20 years and she was 11!! Congratulations, stop and b-r-e-a-t-h-e when there's a setback, and just keep those good vibes going with him.

I still can't believe how well he is doing. He went poop for me and ate and is drinking water. I had to take with me to drop off my Daughter tonight and a cheerleading sleep over when we got home my son was bringing in our boys night pizza and I noticed the water bowl was empty. so I went and filled it while I was doing that I turned around and Montana took off out the dog door with no problems and went potty again. He is going to give me a hart attack. I am trying to keep him from over doing it. I tested out the link in the post above and it works. I will up load more photos over the next few weeks. I want to make a timeline of photos of his progress over time. Again Thank you for all of the Support and continue Support in the future. Is there any Tripawd groups in the Chicago land area?

Hello my name is Stephen. My Dog Montana is a 6 year old German Shepard. We have been Fighting a Cist and Cancer and Infection in his right rear paw for 3 months now. I have taken him to the University of Wisconsin Vet School and two other Vets. the all agree that taking the leg is our only option. I took him to the third Vet today and he will do the surgery but was booked for 2 months out. He told me that we need to get this taken care of a.s.a.p. so he is dong the surgery tonight after hours to squeeze us in. I am scared of the unknown. and Second guessing that I have mad the right decision for him. The Vet also told us he should be ready to come home tomorrow afternoon, Is that to soon? Any advise ? I got a new dog bed and a gate so I can separate him from our other dogs. is there anything else we need to get for him? Thank you for any help you might give.
Hi Stephen and Montana - It sounds like you are literally one day ahead of us! My Maggie is at the vet right now, awaiting the amputation of her rear right leg, also. Maggie is an 8-year-old Cairn Terrier and all I've learned from the wonderful people here at Tripawds helped me make the difficult decision. I lost my Molly to cancer of the spleen (diagnosed 2 hours before she died in my arms!) just last May. The surgeon could not remove the entire growth and I just couldn't even think of leaving that cancer in there, so I made the difficult decision and I am trying not to second guess it.
Best wishes to you and Montana. You get to bring him home today! Soon you will be able to give me all kinds of advice!!! Best wishes for an easy road to a speedy recovery! Judi and Maggie
Judi I am so sorry to here about Molly. Just stay strong and know that We are here for you as you go through this. Yesterday as Montana was going through his surgery this site was my rock. If you have any questions I will do my best to give you support. I hope that every thing went well for Maggie today. Hang in there.

Wonderful news! Hip HOP horay! I'm in New England, so no luck there, but hopefully there are some Tripawders around you can pal up with. Glad to have you and handsome Montana apart of this pack.

ACL tear in right hind leg 12/5/12 and scheduled ACL repair surgery 12/21/12. Pre-op xrays revealed osteosarcoma. Amputation 12/28/12. Chemo (carboplatin) started Jan 10, 2013 and ended on April 5, for a total of 5 doses. He handled carbo like a champ! No side effects. We started metronomic therapy at his third chemo and have been also doing some holistic treatments. He's a lively, playful 10 year old huskie-boarder collie and a very proud member of the Winter Warriors! Our love. Our funny little guy!
We do have members in the Chicago area. Cadence the poodle and her Mom Heather are near there and sometimes have parties. Heather posts as trifod2004. In fact I am sending her the Tripawds Tribute Leash
for the 2 Million Dogs event next weekend. Here are the results I got when I searched the Tripawd Parties forum for Chicago: http://tripawds.....;include=1
You can read about the Tribute Leach here: http://tripawds.....ute-leash/
I'm glad Montana is doing well.

Update Montana is still doing great. The only this is that has me a bit worried but I think it is due to the meds is that his privates have been hanging out and not going back in. Has anyone had that happen with their Dog? I also want to thank Everyone for their support. and I will be adding a couple of more photos tonight.
