Teresa here ...

Time for an update on Miss Cow's health ...

I called miss cow's lovely vet Caroline yesterday morning because Eurydice's breathing got worse the previous night and so we had to increase the cortisone dosage.

I HATE having to do it because I know there is a maximum dose she can take and then I will have to say goodbye ...

But the vet pointed out we are still at a low dose so there is scope to increase.

I was also worried with her leg's muscles which are disappearing fast.

She finds it more difficult to hop around and is positioning her back feet differently so sores are forming in new areas.

Of course, we have the booties, but my point is she has changed the way she hops and I suspect that is due to lack of strength, especially in the back legs.

Sadly, Caroline confirmed there is nothing we can do to preserve the muscles, she eats very well but despite of that we can't keep her fit to hop as she used to.

In my head, we are now entering a new stage of her journey, it's just the way it is.

Also, I found quite a few new tumours in the belly area and in one of her back legs.

And the belly ones that were there a while ago are bigger and harder.

But you know what ???

These new tumours are irrelevant as she will take her solitary trip before any of them will become life threatening so I suppose other pawrents can stop panicking if they find themselves in a similar situation (always pending individual vet confirmation, of course)

I called her oncologist in Portugal (who adores her) to let him know she is still with us and he was jumping up and down with joy and laughing madly on the phone saying this is unbelievable, this is unbelievable !!!!

He told me he never, ever expected her to be here 6 months after lung mets developed and he has never had a case like hers.

I also updated her lovely vet in England, the angel who diagnosed her correctly and he was wonderfully surprised to hear the news too!

He hooked onto her Tuesday Tripawd blog and was screaming to his colleagues to "come take a look at Eurydice!!!!"

And he was laughing and laughing with joy and then sent me an email saying he remembers vividly having seen Eurydice the first couple of weeks after surgery and her smile never left her face!

See ????

It is possible to beat statistics, folks!

Let's keep our hopes high for our babies and make each day count, that's what this crazy journey is about!

... now, tell me how much are you feeding Miss Cow here ? ...

... because she has lots of fat around the belly and weight is not good for tripawds ...

... if she is too heavy she will have trouble walking and if she doesn't walk her muscles wear out quicker ...

... Mom is guilty as charged of overfeeding me blush ...

... Caroline wants Mom to replace some of my dry food with carrots, green beans, courgettes ...

... she did give Mom a bit of a (sweet) lecture ...
