Hello folks,

My apologies for being lax in staying in better contact in this great community! Life and just trying to enjoy our time with Tahoe has been all encompassing.

It has been awhile since we last updated on Tahoe's status and progress, so here goes ...

Tahoe finished his fourth round of CCNU (lomustine) about 6 weeks ago, and we decided after much deliberation that we were done with chemo (just a gut feeling). We are almost 5 months post amp, and for the most part he has done very well.

About a month ago, Tahoe had severe vomitting for about a day. Got into an out-of-town vet who gave him Cerennia shot, and pills to go home. He improved after that. About 2 weeks ago, Tahoe had a terrible bowel movement explosion, as he could not hold it. Since then he has two more episodes, the last one being last night. The poor guy is constantly trying to go, but everything is runny.  His appetite is very good (normal for a Golden), his energy appears fine. Lots more water intake and lots of panting (but temps are quite warm-  30-35 C).

Just before the 4th Chemo treatment we did chest xray and US...both were clear.

Our vet has us on a 1-month checkup currently, unless things change. We are supposed to see the vet this Sat but I have tried to move that up.

Is the diarrhea issue often a sign of cancer reoccurrence, based on others experiences? I realize that Tahoe's cancer (hystiocytic sarcoma) is very aggressive and we have been hoping and praying for some quality and quantity time with him. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

PS- we are still on the homeopathic remedies prescribed by Dr Loops.

Thanks, Stirling and Tahoe

Hey guys it's great to hear from you! I'm glad things have been going relatively well. I can't even begin to guess what the runny poo can be from but I'll bet it's not related to the cancer. Have you tried calling Dr. Loops about this?

When it comes to runny poo, if you're anywhere near a good health food store, get some green silica clay. We've found it works wonders on ending diarrhea.

Give Tahoe a great big hug from us and please keep us posted. Glad that you are loving life and enjoying your summer together!

Hey Stirling and Tahoe!!

It is really good to hear from you and, for thr most part, things are going great!

Yeah, that green clay stuff seems to be the miracle fix-all for poop blow outs!

Since everything else about is behavior is fine, this just sounds like some gastric upset, maybe a bacteria, maybe even a parasite. Once the stomach lining becomes irritated and inflamed, this stuff just keeps on keeping on u til you get a remedy. Good even be one of the herbs is effecting his tummy. If you haven't already done so, I'd get a sample dropped off And I'm sure you've tried the bland diet routine...chicken and rice.

Like Jerry, I really don't thinkmthis is anything that's not treatable pretty quickly! Any and every litle hiccup, or sneeze or blink of an eye throws all tripawd parents into a tizzy!!

At least we got to hear from you!, CONGRATULATION on no ore chemo!! Good job Tahoe!

CONGRATULATIONS on really doing well and soaking up all the loving and spoiling you Dad's giving you! You deserve it all sweet oy!

Nice job Pop!

Continued healing thoughts coming your way......

Lots of love,

Sally and Happy Hannan

Happy Hannah had a glorious additional bonus time of over one yr & two months after amp for osteo! She made me laugh everyday! Joined April's Angels after send off meal of steak, ice cream, M&Ms & deer poop!

THANK YOu Rene and Sally!

I know I can always count on you both as the community cheerleaders!

I have never heard of the clay but will check our natural food store today.

Tahoe's diarrhea episodes are infrequent right now, can we give him the clay on a daily basis?

As a pawrent we are always wondering, is this cancer or something else? Hopefully you both are right.

Thoughts and hugs for your 3-legged babies.

Great to hear from you Stirling.  I was wondering how Tahoe was..  I am so glad he is doing ok besides the runny poo.  I bought some clay but never used it.  Keeping it around I guess incase someone needs it LOL.

Awesome news about the chemo too & xrays.
